What's the best FREE webserver?

I want to host pages from a home computer through my internet connection. I'd just like to know what's a good FREE webserver.

Also, I'm probably going to use Windows 2000 Professional and I know that it already comes with a webserver. I do not know how to use it. Can anyone give me a tutorial? or let me know where I can find one. Thanks in advance.

If you are using W2k, I would sugest the IIS 5 is you best bet, it comes with the OS.

However like any major webserver (IIS, Apache, etc), I would keep it upto date and check a few 'security' site for info on comman attacks.

Apache. I'm using it on both Linux and Windows (Win2k).

I used to use IIS 5.0 but it somehow stopped working one day without reason. Apache is working fine even after months of use.

I recommend you stop trolling. There is no need to give impractical advice.

As for a webserver, IIS would be your best bet. In Win2K, go to Add/Remove Programs. Click Add Windows Components and check the box for IIS. Follow the wizard and install the components you want (I would recommend NOT installing the Frontpage Extensions) Once installed, you'll find a bunch of new options in Computer Management.

Since you are new to hosting go with HansXP's advice. But once you develop some expertise I would highly recommend doing what CollegeGuy suggested but without the burning and looting.
