Whats the best HD cable i can get for my Xbox( not a Xbox 360)

Hi,

I got a 32inch HD LCD and want to use my xbox on it.

I tried the standard cables that came with the xbox and it was fuzzy.

As far as i know you could use, S-video or Component cables to improve the video.

A HDMI cable would be great but i don't think one was made for the Xbox.

So what would be the best cable.
All help would be great.

Component. I don't know if there's a VGA cable for the regular XBox though, but don't think it'd matter much. For the 360 though - I can see a definite improvement using VGA over component, but maybe the component inputs on my DLP just suck

If I remember right there's an "unofficial" VGA cable out there, but I use component and it works great.

(The Xbox has no digital out, so no HDMI/DVI possible)

Also does the MS Advanced AV pack have component outputs?
If so where can i get the MS one?

Yes, the MS Advanced AV pack has component -- I think I got mine for ~ $20 years ago from Best Buy. I'd just check a Gamestop or something similar, pickup a used one for cheap.

I was in the market for some a year ago. 3 words of advice: EBAY, EBAY, EBAY

You can get good quality component cables for the original Xbox for less than $10. At the time, I hit an auction for 3 sets of Monster brand cables for about $12. I eBayed the two I didn't need individually and got my money back.

Typically, I advise that Monster brand cables are overpriced and give no noticeable improvement. But when you get them for less than $10, why not?

Best cable for the original was a vga cable called x2vga, plugged straight into the back of your xbox and converted it to vga and had the RCA outputs on it. You may be able to find one on ebay however they were quite expensive when they were in production (~$60-80) so I don't think you will find them cheap. The same company still makes a vga converter, however it just takes the component input and converts it to vga, no idea if this works as well as the original.

From personal experience the (orginal) vga hook-up works better than any other connection if your tv can handle vga, the picture is absolutely perfect.

The MS AV pack, and a word of advice, don't get prepared to "amazed" by the Xbox's HD ability. I was disappointed.

I just upgraded to a 42" LCD and connect the Xbox with HD component cables. It's not the same, but does exactly the same thing.

As others have mentioned, look on Ebay. I ordered a second set of component cables for $6.00 shipped (1st class) just last week.

Hi.

I did some searching and Toys R us has a cable that fits:

Xbox, Xbox 360 , PS2( Its a muti-cable)- Now it offers composite and S-Video as the outputs.

The cable is made by-" PLAY ON".

I did some searching but can't find anything about that cable.

It costs R130.00 .

What do you guys think, is it worth it?

Also is there much difference between Composite and S-Video?

Do you think I'll see any difference on my HD-LCD TV?

R130 isn't $130, it's $16.80 USD according to XE.com.

FYI, R130.00 is 130 South African Rands

No way would I play $16.80 for an S-Video cable when component cables can be had for cheaper (or maybe a little more since you seem to be in another part of the world). Regardless, even with an original Xbox, the component cable will blow away the S-Video.
