None of them. Johnnie Walker is very overpriced for what it is. You could have 4 nice single malts for the price of a bottle of Blue Label, each one more enjoyable to drink than the Blue. But I don't prefer blended whisky.

I'm smellin' what you're steppin' in.

Never tried it but heard a Wsj report that the parent company is spending 1.5 billion to expand production.

It's not JW, but my current favorite 'cheap scotch' is Balvenie Caribbean or doublewood.

JW Blue King George V

Edit: Actually, the John Walker is the highest by a long shot. Saw it at the duty free shop...

I'm a new scotch drinker myself and like someone else said, I'm also a pussy (aka I don't want my throat on fire while drinking it). That said, I really enjoyed the Glenlivet 12 and the guy at the liquor store recommended that I try doublewood. How is the doublewood?

I find doublewood to be a very smooth scotch. It's got a sweetness to it I enjoy and it finishes a bit hot. I'd almost say it's fruity, but only because I suck at describing how things taste.

I enjoy it best if I breathe in from my nose while sipping it and hold it in my mouth a bit before swallowing.

Blue > Gold > Green > Black/Red
This.

Ive only had green and lower + double black. For a while double black was only available in some international duty free shops. Got mine in dubai, have they gone mass market?

I think green is at a good price point for me. Double black is nice and smoky.

yea i think Dbl black is out most places now, at least i remember seeing ads for it on TV. Ive had Blue and while it is quite good its not 100$ better then the stuff in the 75-100$ range, which is generally a good 15-20 year single malt

i like the double wood. had a nice honeyed flavor to it. op should get laphroiag cask strength :awe:

Yeah haven't tried the double wood yet, only Carib rum cask. Didn't care for it and found JW Black to be much better. I should match up Double Wood vs JW Green next.

I can't stand scotch... But my coworkers all love the stuff. On the table here behind me we have Johnnie Walker Blue Label, Lagavulin, Oban, Laphroig, and Glenfiddich. Lagavulin seems to be the favorite.

Tennessee Whisky != Scotch

Scotch is a form of whisky. Therefore you saying "Why you bringing whisky to a scotch thread?" makes no sense. Tennessee Whiskey maybe is not Scotch but it often is Bourbon, legally speaking, depending on where you live (basically, anywhere but the US).

You pay $50 for Gent. Jack?!? Holy crap! I get it for half that!

its about there here in New York because of Taxes. the markup here is pretty nuts, so nuts that its actually cheaper to drive the 6 hours to NH or Delaware and buy a ton of booze (no tax) and drive back. its 30-50% cheaper.

im actually doing this at the end of the month as ill be passing through NH for other reasons

I used to drink Black because I found it the only one I found worth the money, but I don't drink anymore. I always enjoyed it on the rocks, or putting it in the freezer... though I'm sure a lot of people would frown against that as it takes away from the flavor.

That's just crazy! The regualr JD is about $18, and Gentleman Jack is about $25-30. Heck, even Single Barrel is about $40-45.

Sure they're both whiskey's, they're also both drinks. Maybe we should start discussing whether coca cola is better than whiskey?

This thread is about Johnny Walker. To start suggesting the OP should instead be drinking Bourbon, Sprite, or Drano because they're cheaper is pretty retarded. Almost as retarded as the people who seem to think the only difference between Scotch and Bourbon is the price. Forget about that fact that I have bottles of Bourbon that cost several times what a bottle of Black Label costs, but the tastes are vastly different.

Thing that surprised me is I can get a 1.75 L bottle of evan williams for like $25 here in manhattan but jim beam is $45. Both are outrageous.
