I am considering the following setup, this is going to be my entertainment system w/ 37" Westy @ 1920x1080. I definitely want to push my E6600 probably on air and I will be gaming a lot as well. I will have a lot of HDD's hooked up to it.

Which mobo in yout guys opinion going give me the best combination of stability and gaming performance along with a good amount of room to overclock. I have read all the expert reviews but I want first hand input. Currently I am considering the P5W DH.

The P5W DH is a popular mobo with the E6600+ crowd. Be forwarned there have been problems with OCZ RAM. Most users are using GSkill and Corsair with this mobo with good results. Double check to make sure your RAM choice is compatible with this mobo. I ordered the 2GB Corsair 6400C4 RAM for my P5W DH mobo. Mobo arrived yesterday evening. BIOS 701 installed. Ordered from ZipZoomFly, August 21st.

Thanks for the input, yah i have been coming across the ram compatibility a lot recently, i probably am going to end up ordering the same ram as yours or may be the pc8500

Does the 701 bios work with e6600 or do we have to flash?

Isn't there a new Lian-Li line that has a side vent? I'd take a look at them also.

The 701 BIOS will work out of the box with the Conroes but you'll want to update to the 1101 anyway. I havent done mine yet because the E6400 and RAM wont arrive until tomorrow. If you are going to overclock you'll probably want to choose a psu in the 600w category. More if you ever plan to run dual cards. I plan to overclock mine (actually its for my daughter) but wont need dual card setup so I chose the Seasonic S12 600w psu. I hear its very quiet which is something my daughter wants. Its also rated very highly from professional reviewers as well as enthusiasts.

Sorry, but with one video card there ain't no way that you'll need a 600W power supply. The system should take 300W MAX for a X2 or Conroe. Look it up.

http://www.journeysystems.com/power_supply_calculator.php

I am now using an AMD 64 3200, 1GB, one IDE drive, 4 sata drives in RAID5, a 6600video card, Chaintech AV-710 sound card, all running fine on a HUGE Seasonic 380W S12 PSU in a Lan Boy case.

Two more systems with one drive and 330W S12 Seasonics work very nicely.
My dual Opterons are running on a 500W Zippy, also a 5 drive array setup.

I have measured the total power consumption of a AMD64 3000+, 1GB, 6600 video, single drive system with a Kill a Watt meter +/- 0.2%, 67W idle and 118W load. My Dell 2.8 PresHot at work sucks 75W at idle and 138W under load with onboard and a really wimpy video card to drive 2x19" LCDs. LCDs are 25W each. Spend some time reading at silentpcreview.com too.

To start off with? No, 600w is more than enough. Like I said though I am going to overclock. Also I want room to grow. Hence the 600w selection I made. Rumors are the DiretX 10 video cards are going to be power sucking monsters so I'm trying to think ahead a little. I could have gotten by on a 500w but I wanted room to grow the system. Futurproofing dont ya know ;-) Besides, jumping from 500w to 600w isnt alot of money IMO. Now when you hit the 700w category prices really make a huge jump.

Just to clarify, the OCZ mem issues concern the Gold XTC line with P965 based mobos. It's not so much a compatibility issue, but an issue of the memory needing 2.0v in order for the machine to post. Once the required voltage is set, I'm fairly certain the memory is fine. The P5W DH has zero issues with OCZ RAM. I'm using a 2GB OCZ XTC Platinum PC2-6400 kit with mine, without issue.
