What's the best PC game you've played recently?

For me it's Medieval 2 :Total War. Quite engrossing. Been playing the same saved game for a few months! The new patch should be out soon too.

It's funny that I played it for a month or so when released, beat the short campaign for a few factions then I haven't touched it since.

Fired it up again last weekend and played it every night this week. Great game, even if it's a little too similar to RTW for my tastes.

Otherwise I've been playing C&C3 multi, STALKER, SupCom(fading fast however).

Yesterday I picked up SH 4, great game, though I'm part of a dying breed that still plays sims.

C&C3. I love the NOD personalities especially Ajay (Josh Halloway). His comments about the mission where NOD had to steal Nuke codes from GDI were great!

Both are fabulous games. I'm really looking forward to the DX10 patch for COH. Supreme Commander and 2142 also get played quite a bit on my box.

recently ... STALKER ... a very-disguised RPG in FPS-clothing ... engrossing ... and *ties* with Riddick: EfBB as my favourite FPS of all time
-minor weakness ... broken mini-SQs

Shivering Isles was superb also ... maybe better than Oblivion's MQ ... about 40 hours of play ... better world, better response to the player's changing status and a little more varied voice acting
-*flaw* was that it could be completed on Level 1

also rather impressed with Fable:LC ... but that's from '05

have you played Deus Ex (the first one)? no FPS will ever beat it for single player, IMO

Hitman: Blood Money. It takes the best elements from all three previous games (just the right amount of purchasing from the first, a nice coherent story from the second, and improved AI from the third), adds an excellent graphical engine, and manages to be one of the most solid games ever when it comes to level consistency. Aside from Death on the Mississippi (too large and boring) they're all excellent.
