I just got STALKER and COD2, but my DVD drive doesn't work at the moment, so I'll have to wait a while.

-minor weakness ... broken mini-SQs

Shivering Isles was superb also ... maybe better than Oblivion's MQ ... about 40 hours of play ... better world, better response to the player's changing status and a little more varied voice acting
-*flaw* was that it could be completed on Level 1

also rather impressed with Fable:LC ... but that's from '05

have you played Deus Ex (the first one)? no FPS will ever beat it for single player, IMO

yeah ... STALKER blew it away

DE was a classic - an *awesome* game - but it has been surpassed in every way
[and DE was also boring and slow in places ... where you ran back-and-forth across the same map - for the 'sake of running']
... SS2 was even more innovative that DE ... but it has been surpassed - also - by games that ripped it off [including DE]

and you may be stuck in the mud

i played it just before i traded it - this year. Nothing to do with GFX ... it *still* looked nice in supported WS with texture packs ....

but it is not as *spectacular* as you make it out to be ... a lot of it was 'fluff'

I'll have to try some of those games.

I tried 2142, but not really my thing. Funny, I played BF 2 and BF Vietnam a lot. Although the gameplay was the worst, I liked BF Vietnam the most because: lush scenery and neat architechture; kicking soundtrack and "Good Morning Vietnam" guy; can play music in game; historic setting.
BF 2 was an amazing imrovement in game play, so I bought it. But I found the WW3 -type scenario a little too modern to find it 'fun'. And the settings of bombed out mideast towns and half-completed oil pipes just looked ugly.
2142 looked like a technical step up, but an even grimmer setting. And lasers and floating vehicles and stuff just isn't my thing.

Anyway, happy playing all!

I still play Knights of the Old Republic when I feel like getting engrossed in a game. No game has ever pulled me in and locked me on like that one. KotOR2:TSL wasn't as good, IMO. Still a good game, but much shorter and not as involving.

SHIZZZLE!!!

I just started another round of KOTOR. Lovely, (except the interface doesnt scale with the resolution).
I cant think of too many other games that have such an excellent story and delivery.

Fallout 2.

I played that game more recently than anything else, I think. Awesome game, especially when you install some of the patches from the mod community, one guy made over 500+ fixes to various portions of the code, fixing bugs, ending exploits, fixing broken quests, etc.

After that, I've been playing CS: Source on a regular basis recently, and before that, BF2142. I might get back into PC gaming more though, and pick up some new games to play. I just hate spending $30-$50 on a new game not knowing whether or not I'll like it. Especially when you have to spend several hundred on hardware to make it run smoothly.

just finished KoT9 at 1 AM ... better than the other Oblivion Plugins ... but falls short of Shivering Isles
--SI has a better *story* than Oblivion's MQ, the *characters* are better; the *voices* are more varied; the *world* is much more beautiful and colourful and it actually *adapts* to the player's changing status [unlike in Oblivion] ... the whole expansion takes around 40 hours to do most everything

Overall, Oblivion and it's plugins and expansions have consumed over 1300 hours of my time ... over a year

i'd have to say - overall - It's the best PC game i've played recently !
--maybe ever ... despite it's faults it is one hell of a seamless world with superb performance and graphics to boot

IF you can *handle* RPG

FINALLY putting Oblivion back in it's box ...
--till the next expansion
... hopefully

i still have FEAR's Expansion Point to finish ... after the *excitement* that was STALKER i will be hard-pressed to stay awake
:moon:

hopefully after that snooze-fest, the English Patch for RE4 will add mouse support and shadows ...

And then i need something *new*
:Q

keep on suggesting games ....

How about you?

Recently it has definitely been Medieval 2, the single player is awesome. I still wish there was a hot seat campaign or possibly a LAN multiplayer campaign map. It would seriously be like some completely awesome game of risk at LAN party, just put like a 5 minute cap on turns and I wouldn't mind waiting. Especially if you could do things like queue up buildings and units to be trained in the future, manage your settlements during other people's turns.

Medieval 2 and Stalker. The latter being an out of nowhere surprise for me. The former for its liquid heroine addictive qualities.
