I'm in the process of making a compilation disk but I need a better program than the one I already have to make mp3s. I need at least 256k quality. I have the Cdex program but its very slow and I don't know how to increase the bitrate on Real Jukebox, the best I can get with that is 96k.

Any suggestions

go visit www.r3mix.net and it will answer all your questions.

70% of the people in this forum will tell you to get a combination of EAC + Lame 3.90 and use the r3mix encoding options for VBR if disk space is tight, or constant 256k bitrate if you have the gigs.

EAC en Lame gives you the best quality mp3's.
Use the VBR option that's the best one (in my opinion)

EAC and LAME. EAC to rip and LAME to encode. NOTHING works better. NOTHING. PERIOD. If you care about your sound quality then you have no choice but to use those 2 programs. Both are FREE, and both are THE BEST at what they do. Whoever said they are using Audiocatalyst must be deaf or only listen on PC speakers, Xing is the WORST encoder, bar none. Also, see the link in my sig, and from there follow the other links.

ooo yeah, this is my favourite hehehehe.

For best result : use Exact Audio Copy to grab the CD to wav, then use LAME (preferably with the windows GUI called Razorlame) to encode it.

if you want a simple one, just use Audiograbber.

for info about MP3 encoding, look on r3mix ,its a neat site about MP3

Yes,Yes! I'm glad somebody jogged my memory! I've been trying to compile Audio Disks (.WAV) for playback on any CD Player. I have Nero, and a bunch of other programs, they're driving me crazy!!!!!!

I need to get the high-bitrate quality, yet "I DON'T WANT TO COPY THWE WHOLE DISK(s)".

These programs I've been using (most likely incorrectly)...Won't let me compile my own selections of Tracks from different CD'S.I also have TDK Blender.

Yeah, for sure I'm doing something wrong, like not Compiling a complete folder, or something....BUT THERE's GOT TO BE A BETTER WAY!!!!:disgust::Q

Thank you, one and all....I finally did get 'Nero Burning ROM' to work, grabbing tracks- at- a -time to Hard Drive, then burning them to CD-R.This way I can make compilations....but all of the other advice was also appreciated, and will be checked out!

That's very insightful. I always thought they kept someone from having to answer the same newbie questions over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. The inquirer can always take that info and run. Unless they are "lazier" than the FAQ writer, who at least took the time to write the FAQ, while the inquirer didn't do anything except ask an elementary question that has already been answered 15,000 times. Besides the FAQ you can also search the forums, you know.

Forget everything, you won't have a better quality than ExactAudioCopy (formely EAC) available here in germany for the ripping process and WinGoGo available anywhere for encoding.

If you want GOOD sound quality completely forget MP3. Use Musepack aka Mpegplus. Has far better algorithms and is MUCH more listenable than MP3. MP3 is just too crippled.
