Got a new HP laptop as a gift and it is loaded with Bloatware like Vonage, Snapfish, easy internet, HP Games, ETC.

Most of this junk there is no option to uninstall it from the control panel.

Should I just go a delete all the files I can find for these programs?

What is the best way to get rid of all this crap?

Download and save all the necessary drivers and burn these to a cdr or put it on a flash drive.

I would then recommend doing a clean install of Windows Vista on the laptop. If they only gave you an HP Vista restore disk, that will just put the crap back on there or just do a restore from a hidden partition.

First look in Add / Remove Programs for the Uninstaller
Next look at Start, Programs .. the uninstaller is sometimes
in the programs folder.
It may also be in the actual C:\Programs\Whatever it is
folder .. Also try Add / Remove Pro .. majorgeeks should
have it

use the msconfig utility, should be able to keep most of it from starting that way (AOL, etc). Either press the window key and R, or click start-accessories-run to bring up the run window then type msconfig. Click the startup tab and uncheck the boxes for programs that you don't want to start when you boot the PC. If you're unsure about something just google it and see if it's needed or not. When you restart a window will appear telling you you've made changes... check the box that says "don't show this message.." Some programs have to be stopped other ways like MSN messenger. If it came with a trial of norton antivirus they make a free remover program you can download from there site.

I was one of the lucky ones who got an Anytime Upgrade DVD with my Compaq. The Anytime Upgrade disc is really just the Vista DVD. I just burnt the standard recovery discs and then blasted the machine clean and did a fresh install. World of difference.

Didn't even need to back up the drivers or anything, either. Vista had my Intel GMA945 based Celly up and running with the right resolution, sound and nic working, etc, from the beginning.
