What's the best wireless G router for an IBM T40?

I've got the Linksys Wireless G router now (WRT54G) and it's crap. Wired and wireless connections are dropped constantly (problem goes away as soon as I hook up my old Linksys router). This one is going back to the store but I want to get something that'll work well with my mPCI card in my T40. Anyone have any success stories with the IBMs and the D-Link DI-624 or any others?

from what i have read its that the linksys is crap. i think i willl be going for a netgear or d-link with 108mbps capability

i didn't even bother with the firmware. from the posts i've read people said it doesn't matter. frankly, I shouldn't need to upgrade anything. the thing doesn't do what it's supposed to out of the box, and for that reason it'll go back. it might sound stupid but I'm not going to waste any money on something that doesn't do what it's supposed to. it'd be like buying a new car but then needing a tune-up before you could drive it home.

I think i'm going to try the d-link di-624... hopefully my luck will be better.

I use the Linksys WRT54G. Although I haven't stress tested the thing, I have used it about a dozen times now for several hours at a time and have never had any problem with dropped wireless connections. I've used the integrated, 'wired' switch only one time -- so I can't comment on that.

The reliability of the router may vary depending upon the wireless card in your laptop. Try to determine the manufacturer of the chipset on your wireless card, and then buy a router that uses the same chipset. That should minimize connection issues.

i have smc 11b roulter, and dlink 624 and ibm t40
both roulter work with t40 good
on the 11g dlink 624, i connect at 5.5mb
on the 11b smc, i connect at 11mb

use a netgear wireless 11b....unless you upload a ton of stuff, G isn't going to do you any good.

The B is just as fast on my network as say cat5, just doesn't transfer large files as fast.
