What's the better mobile graphics?

I am currently considering to buy a notebook because the benchmarks finally seem to be able to handle the newer games at an acceptable level. However I am not on an unlimited budget and therefore I seek the wisdom of Anandtech forum members. I have ended up with two possible notebook options where the only difference is the graphics card. I can either choose ATI?s Mobility RADEON 9600 w/128 Mb?s of ram, or the slightly newer Mobility RADEON 9700 with a mere 64 MB?s of ram. I would be very grateful for some expert advice on the issue. I should probably mention that I am shopping around the 1400$ bill so if anyone knows of a better deal for that amount I would be extremely grateful (my current possibilities has 3Ghz P4 w/512 of RAM).

Its the same chip, just different clockspeeds. I'd personally rather have the full 128mb of ram for decent texture resolution but if you are more concerned with speed then go for the mobile 9700.

A moblity 9800 pro is about the same as a desktop 9700 pro or 9800

The mobility 9600 and 9700 are more like the desktop 9600 and 9600xt

If it were my cash, I would get a slightly lesser processor (if possible) and the mobility 9800 if I could as modern games are really starting to get demanding on the video card.
