What's the better mouse between these 2?

Neither are very impressive, but I'm just curious. The HP feels a little better to click and the USB plug and the wire seem a little more sturdy. Although I think the Logitech might track a little better.

The HP dates back to 2004 according to Amazon. It probably sucks

on the contrary, the modern mouse's tracking sensor has gradually evolved into something that tries to help the average user move the cursor around with things like built in acceleration and prediction to help the user move the cursor faster with less acceleration on their part, or even draw straighter lines...

...all without ever consulting the user if thats what they really want. Heck, even most new gaming mice contained sensors with these features and it wasn't until a few years ago that you could finally find some models that came without them or at least offered the ability to remove them. Heck, even Logitech's newer G400 model just oversaw a revision to finally remove prediction/angle-snapping.

so while I really don't know about that particular HP mouse, I really wouldn't be surprised if its age might actually give it an advantage over the Logitech for some people.

at the end of the day its all up to each user to decide what they like best

I love those too but they break quickly. I moved away from MS mice on the whole to Logitech and will never go back. Otherwise I agree, and I love the form factor.

Logitech doesn't make good mice anymore as far as form. My MX300 is part of a dying breed (it also has side buttons).

I've had mine for about 11years now and am just now starting to have problems with it but it is well used, lol. I've tried 4 times now to replace it but all others have failed within 4 months. So I keep plugging old faithful back in. I wish companies made their products as well as they use too.

I would definitely go for the Logitech, better support for adjusting settings and its a more modernish type of optical mouse where the HP one is about a decade old.

I wouldn't recommend either, I would get a G500 when they come on sale from time to time. I have 2, and a G5 as well.

On my desktop I am using a Logitch LX-7 wireless mouse. It has a nice tiny USB receiver and it has 3 extra, easily customizable buttons. One on the scroll wheel, and one each just behind the scroll wheel. Easy to use by just moving the two fingers a mouse normally uses and the fit in my hand is perfect. I had initially got this mouse for a job, where an application did not allow copy / paste and had to use Ctrl+c and Ctrl+v to do it. It was easier to assign those to the mouse than constantly hit keyboard combos. I think this mouse is discontinued and it's new version is the LX-8 which is very similar.

For low sense users? Yep, it's probably the best low sense mouse to this date (hence it's low DPI and HZ). For high sense? Not the greatest. The most accurate high sense sensors for palm-grip are, the one on the MX518, the 1800 DPI Optical of the DeathAdder 3G (old DA), and the one of the new Zowie AM, which is a perfected version of the sensor of DA 3G - with lower lift-off and no prediction.

Er.. I have a G3, not a MX300.

Though I'm sure those were good too.. I've been using (on and off with classic MS mice) the style since the 80s.

I came to prefer the quality and style of the Logitech G3 (and similar) mice.
