It's short for Gerardo. If you're white, Gerard will do just fine. Gerald is a terrible name.

Christopher is a good, Greek name. Gerald sounds like he's a farina-guzzling file clerk. If you're trying to figure out what to name your child you should go with Ajax, though.

Future father in law is named Gerald/Jerry. People always just address him as Jerry, but I refuse and only refer to him as Gerald... which sounds helluva lot better imo.
