It's a domestic, they are all the same... didn't you know they don't even have steering wheels to turn, you have to lean in your car and reach out and put your foot on the wheels to brake whatever direction you want to steer
So that's why they're handling is so crappy. I mean, I'd much rather have a Japanese vehicle over a Vette around a road course.

Back to these pointless OT flamefests:

Power: Camaro
Handling: S2000
hp / lb: Camaro = ( 310 / 3439 ) = .0901 hp / lb
S2000 = ( 240 / 2809 ) = .0854 hp / lb
Interior: S2000
Exterior: Opinioniated

Everyone and their mother will argue the same points:
domestic: fast and isn't that bad around the corners
imports: it's fast enough on the straightaways and handles great around the corners, plus interior design

Choose one and shut up. Think about how hard it is for someone to get you to change, then think about the chance you're going to have to change someone else.

Who in their right mind would want to own a Z28. It's gotta be one of the cheapest made and ugliest POS on the road. The ONLY thing going for it is the motor. The interior is a joke. My wife's dad had an SS for "fun" and OMG it practically fell apart and was the biggest POS on the inside and out. He sold it and ended up getting a GM truck (one of the few cars they do right).

You'd have to be a high school student to still think the Z is "cool".

EDIT: but i wouldnt own the S2000 either

Depends on the Japanese vehicle . . . reasonably priced like the 350Z=FairladyZ . . . or nice if you can afford/acquire like Nissan Skyline GTR or NSX Type-R.

So you must drive... a... YUGO! I would have loved to own a Camaro if GM still kept them going by the time I graduated from college (approximately 3.5 years). The only reason I didn't buy one when I went car shopping in July was the simple fact that it would have been too costly for me working and going to school. I'll work with what I have though... an American made engine that'll soon be up to par with the big guys.

Nope. I drive an F150 x-Cab w/ 5.4L V8 4x4 loaded XLT. My wife drives a Maxima SE.

I want either a Lightning, 2003 Cobra Well i really want a z06, but it's a "little" outta my price range.

Wife wants a 330i BMW or something along those lines.

Nice truck!

I'd wait and see about that 3rd gen Lightning... from what NFS & RagingBITCH posted of the new F-150 and the 3rd gen L, it sounds awesome.

I love how when a car sucks, messageboard critics place so much value on "interior". You know what? The interior of my 240sx sucks, and I don't give a damn because when I'm in it I drive. I don't sit there and look at the "interior".

Weight: 2809lbs : WTF?
Gas mileage : 20mpg with a Standard transmission?

2002 Chevrolet Camaro, which weighs 3439lbs, makes 310hp at 5200rpm and 340ft-lbs at 4000rpm. This is a 5.7L V8, compared to the displacement of the S2000 at 2.0L (4 cylinder).

The Camaro is larger in every aspect (length, width, wheel base, overall body size, engine size, etc)... it has nearly TRIPLE the displacement as the Honda S2000 does, yet it gets 18mpg with an automatic transmission.

The S2000 is approximately ten thousand U.S. dollars more expensive than the Chevy Cam.

woah.

Funny thing is, the S2000 has more leg room than the Camaro.

And why place any value on hp/litre? Why not put a similar value on hp/rpm?
Camaro Z28 makes 310hp at 5200rpm. Hp/rpm = 0.0596
S2000 makes 240hp at 8300rom. Hp/rpm = 0.0289

Revs are the replacement for displacement... treat them as such.

worng there buddy. cousin and a friend both chose s2k over the m coupe.. not just the z3. And the main reason... performance of the s2k is better. Feel is better. I've driven the s2k and it's a great car. Sure nothing kicks in until 5.5K RPM but once it does... damn it pulls. Toss in a supercharger, bore it out, and get some more torque. The thing will fly.

The price of a car doesn't make a better car... if you believe that... maybe you're a bit young to understand.

I wouldn't buy any of those cars. For $10K, I can build an 11 sec car. Whomp on your s2ks, rice rockets, some ferraris. And the whole time I'd be laughing my ass off because you've spent so much friggin money. haahahha

Thanks. Yeah I've been reading about the next gen L over at F150forums.com.

What i really have started to like is the new HD 4 door. Now that it's S/C It really hauls some ass. I raced one in my wifes Maxima SE and he kicked my ass Plus since I have a 5 yr old is the real reason I can't/won't buy an L. I need more room.

S2000 is a decent track car. As a daily driver, it sucks as it has virtually no power at the low end. And by low end, I'm talking about less than 4000rpm.

Just take a look at the dyno sheet located here.

I personally think $30k or however much it costs is WAY too much for that car. For that price, I'd get a WRX STi or the Lancer Evo VIII.

Dude, I got an accord with 200 stock hp, and a porsche boxster with 210 stock hp. At times, I think my accord is better but all the chics rather get in a porsche than the accord. I think you get lay more often in a s2000

It's pretty amazing to crank out 240 HP from a 4 cylinder. So you need a 5.7 v8 to crank out 310 hp ? So if you triple the displacement of a Honda but only cranking out 70 more hp ?

240 / 2.0 = 120HP / Litre
310 / 5.7 = 54.38HP / Litre

Unless your some Arab prince that loves American car that sucks gas.. I wouldn't take the Camaro

You can kiss ass to HP/L all day long, but 310 > 240.

End of story.

Hmmm, interesting comment by R&T.

Out on the open road, the SS proves it's more than just a straight-line performer.
Thanks to wider 275/40ZR-17 Goodyear F1 tires, a stiffer shock/spring package and
a larger front anti-roll bar than the standard Camaro, the SS handles exceedingly well
for a car considered by many as "low-tech." Overall grip and predictability are good,
and after getting over the rather high ride height, you can push the car with
an increased degree of confidence.

At the racetrack, the SS raised more than a few eyebrows.
Everyone expected it to rocket down the straights, but it ended up cornering
well too ? proof that high tech isn't necessarily the only show in town.
While it certainly could work better over bumps and through quick transitions,
the SS is generally stable, predictable and as such, surprisingly fast.
Grip doesn't measure up to the sticks-like-glue adhesion of the Z06,
but with less power, it's not as big an issue.

Yes they are both American Cars, which you automatically put into a catagory that ZERO of their vehicles produced are any good. Yes there are MODELS of GM that I do not like and would never own, but there are also models that are superior to import counterparts (Trucks, Vette), I and many others here have the ability to break models down to pro's and con's, Yeah the NSX is nice but how much does it cost? and why does the Z06 automatically handle just okay? From the events I've been to they handle great, the only thing people are doing is replacing the diff and brake fluid with higher grade fluids.

You say "it's what YOU want in a car", but yet all you list is biased opinions and just steriotype every domestic car instantly, hmmm thats funny. Where is the proof that Vette's are only good for pure power?

1) $30k is too much for S2k, agreed (actually it's just that there are better cars for $30k).

2) As a daily driver, you don't want power, hence VTEC / 2 cam profiles. Low end for daily driving / saving gas, and you romp on the pedal when you want the power.

The test is a little suspect though. I dont know where the hell they got a 4.9 0-60 on the s2k.

3) Quote all the magazines you want, in the end they're still driven by humans and it's all bunk anyway. Just compare the ET's for a car across different magazines. If you can't tell a difference between a car and another, pick the cheaper one. If you can tell a difference and are willing to cough up the money for it, then go right ahead. Either way, bench racing is a complete waste of time.
