No, it's not God. I don't think two badly compatitble people should stay married anyway.

Divorce rates are high because of rushing, selfishness, spinelessness.

Rushing: If you rush into marriage, chances are good you don't know the other person very well.
Selfishness: Many people are just not good marriage material. They can't empathize with their spouse and fail to see things from their spouse's point of view.
Spinelessness: Too many in deadend relationships fail to end them. This is because of laziness and/or not wanting a confrontation.

The above are a few of the reasons.

Are you saying that marraige is taken seriously by everyone? I'm saying that divorce rates are so high because people don't view marraige as a lifelong committment and instead see it as a reversible 'procedure.'

Ideally, courtship and dating would be the trial periods. Unfortunately people don't take marraige seriously enough to give dating and courtship their due course.
