What's the easiest & best DVD burning software?

I just purchased my first DVD burner, nec-2510A, thus I am a noob. And don't really know how the whole processing goes. I am looking for a good software that lets me create backup DVDs. Something easy until I get the hang of it. The figure the process is something to the effect of copy, trim and burn.

A quick search turn up, DVDshrink, DVD decrypter, AnyDvd

If anyone know some good sites to check out that would be great as well.

when i got my dvd burner, i tried out the roxio software that came with it to burn data dvds, and found it to be okay. most of the time, i just use burnatonce, which allows you to pick files and burn them to dvd.

now, if you're trying to write a dvd to play video, you'll need things like dvdshrink. you should look at www.videohelp.com.

For backing up DVD-9's to DVD-5 DVDshrink can't be beaten.

When it comes to reliability on as many set top players as possible, I find that Stomp RecordNOW Max (I used version 4.5) is the best.

I rip with DVDDecrypter, use DVDshrink to shrink the DVD and create a brand new iso image, and then burn the iso image using DVDDecrypter.

Really seems like DVD decrypter and DVD shrink is pretty popular. I tooled around with DVD shrink last night far little while. I was really impressed with all the functionality from a freeware software.

Thanks everyone. I just recieved my 2510a and backup my first movie. The butterfly effect. I ripped it with DVD Decrypter then compressed it with DVD shrink, and burned with Nero. Played great. I can't wait too get my 100 sonic DVD-r's.

If any has split a disk into 2 dvds please post or PM me. I am working on scareface and it is too long. I've been using ifoedit, I don't know if I did it right though. I put them on my hard drive until I get more media.

If you need to split the disk into 2 dvds, try DVDFab. That's what I use and that's also freeware.

DVD Shrink and Nero for 1 disk. DVDFab and Nero for 2 disks.

Ah, just what I was looking for. So it is recomended to use dvd shrink t compress the movie and dvd decrypter to burn em? How succesful is this process? Can you just continually compress until a movie fits? Is it possible to take special features off to save space? Most importantly, does it keep dolby digital 5.1 support as well as excellent video quality?

Hmmm, I dont know if I did something wrong but I tried the dvd shrink to shrink the file and create an iso image. I then burnt with decrypter, but what i got was a perfect copy, with not so perfect quality. THe movie with the crappy quality, was the Rundown. The water scene where the jeep crashes you can readily see little tiny squares, much like video you would see played on a low resolution quick-time image. How do I keep the good resoultion? Less compression? If I dont keep all the extras, and only the 2 audio formats i need, will it looke better? PLease help!

Come on now, hundreds of people viewing, yet noone can give any help? The two other movies i burnt have worked excellent. Only the rundown looks bad? Could it be copy protection? I could post a screeny...

What is your compression level? I copy just the movie most of the time, to do that use Reathor function.

The compression level on the rundown was 48%, that was everything. I am going to try just movie and 5.1 right now to see if it burns better.

Ok make sure you go to DVDRhelp.com they will have answers to most any questions you have. Great wealth of information there.

At a 48% compression rate I can see how it would look bad. I did Season 1 of Sex And The City just to see how it would look...by including everything using DVDShrink and I think it was a 75% compression rate it looked like sh!t so I ripped with DVD Decrypter and re-authored with DVDAuthor created my own menus and only put 3 episodes per disk. Yeah it used twice as many disks, but the quality is MUCH better.
