What's the etiquette on calling someone in the morning on the weekends?

I agree completely. I think it's inappropriate to call someone at 6-7 am, but it's fine past 9 am even on the weekends. If someone plans to be sleeping during normal waking hours, then they need to have their ringer/phone turned off.

9am is usually considered the earliest to call on any day. Turning off one's ringer prevents EMERGENCIES getting through.

that said it's why my home phone is usually off and those that know me use my cell phone to get hold of me.

Everybody I know, knows I tend to stay up later on weekends and generally like to get my full 8 hours since I rarely get more than 6 during the week. (though sometimes I'm up until after 7am on the weekend.)

I don't see the point of putting an alarm on a saturday, so I usually end up waking up around 11-12. By the time I shower, wake up etc it's usually around 1:00 sometimes later. I can't force myself out of bed if I don't have to, I try all the time.

I've been slowly coaching my friends that noon is the cutoff. The only reason it's that early is because football starts at that time. Most of the time they will come over earlier than that and just hang out until I'm up. They've taught me that if my door isn't open they will just bang on the door and hammer the doorbell until I let them in.

To those that say it's a wasted day, I'm up until 4-6am so it's not that bad. Monday's suck, though, having to be up at 8am for work.

Hmm if you're a college kid, you probably slept at 3-4 am last night. 8 hours of sleep plus 2 hours of recovery=2pm at the earliest.

im an old guy with 3 teen kids, i go to sleep around 3 or 4 on weekends and still get up at 830 or 9. i make my kids get up too, so they dont waste their day. ill let em sleep until 10 usually tho.

if someone calls me sat morning before 8, it will be for a good reason because anyone i know isnt normally up before then either.

Yeah that's a great idea, then their phone will chirp every five minutes until they actually DO wake up in an irritated groggy daze.

Not everyone has a cellphone (shocking, but true), sleeps with their cellphone or leaves it on overnight and you may not know the cellphone number of everyone you want to call.
