My Buick Park Ave (GM 3800 Series 2) tops out at around 120, but i'm sure it could go faster because thats ever so slightly under 4k RPM's. Gotta be a chip somewhere keeping it from going faster, wonder if i could hack it . . .

I've been close to 130mph. My crowning achievement though is Dallas Texas to Topeka Kansas with 2 stops for gas and lunch in 6 hours 10 minutes. In Oklahoma I cam around a curve and flew past a Trooper on the side of the road at 105mph. I thought I was dead, but he didn't even seem to notice.

That's 9 times as severe of an impact as 45 mph... and you're lucky to walk away from 45 without a scratch.

I hit a tree going about that fast and didn't get a scratch on me, aside from a very small little pockmark where a flying piece of windshield hit my forehead and a stiff neck which lasted a couple of days. I attribute it to dumb luck, having been wearing a seatbelt, and going into the tree backwards. Maybe not likely, but certainly possible. This was in a '96 Integra, fwiw.

135 mph in my old Corolla GT-S out west on the PA turnpike. I didn't know it could go that fast -- I think the speedo was at least mildly optimistic. But it was amazingly stable!

105 mph on an LA freeway on my Kawasaki Mach 3 (motorcycle). That bike had a lot left, but I was coming up on too much traffic, and anyway, I was scared shitless feeling every damn road irregularity and looking down (briefly) and seeing the pavement fly by that fast. How you other guys do it, I just don't know.

Between 230/240 kph as a passenger in a 5 series BMW driven by a grinning, gap toothed and gold toothed Greek on the only highway in all of Crete. He had two half finished bottles of whiskey rolling around on the floor of the back seat. He kept missing the apex on the turns (albeit broad ones), which wasn't exactly confidence inspiring. And yes, he was using the entire road. Good thing there was almost NO other traffic whatsoever. He kept looking over at me and grinning evilly and I kept thinking, "ROAD, Biatch, keep your eyes on the road!"

Moral victory department: Close to 180 kph on the Italian autostrada driving my friend's natural gas powered Opel station wagon. That vehicle was a bit shaky at that speed (a little over 100 mph and all she had to give) but I was determined to pass every Alfa and Lancia I possibly could!

What might have been department: A friend let me drive his modded twin turbo RX-7. We were on the 202 bypass around Doylestown -- mid-day, a fair amount of traffic, not much road. That thing got up to 120 mph in an eyeblink, but there was too much traffic, and I wished to remain alive, but , DAMN . . .
