What's the fastest you ever drove in a car ?

137 as a passenger in a 1983 corvette which my buddy's father owned. While we were in the high speed lane someone pulled into same lane ahead of us. "Doug" went left and we spun out in the grass between northbound and southbound lanes. Spinnage occurred and we picked up twigs and branches stuck between the tires and the rims . Not until we got back to his house did we realize that the spiderweb crack on the front fender was from hitting that car.

I am really not sure. Speedometer only went to 140 and the needle had passed that and was on it's way around again. On a motorcycle it was around 190 mph indicated....so no real idea either except really, really fast.

Yeah but when the car goes splat and all your passengers die but you survive......well, everyone kinda hates you. FWIW, I only do stupid shit in my car when it's just me, and 99% of the time on an empty road.

Was in a hurry and didn't notice that I was going quite that fast. Slowed down to a more sane 85mph after that.
On the bright side, no one was hurt and I found out that I could nearly peg the speedometer (115mph max IIRC).

Let's just say my truck is surprisingly stable north of 90mph.

I've also gone 120 as a passenger in my mom's car, and 125+ in my 68 Oldsmobile (speedometer went to 125, but it was still accelerating). Late 60s power steering gets very scary at those speeds.

109 in my 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix. Limiter stopped me from reaching 110. If it hadn't kicked in, I honestly still wonder if I would've been smart enough to know to slow down anyways.

You actually got it up to 110? The fastest I've ever driven mine was about 95... and that was on a flat straightaway.

Yep Also a flat, straight stretch of highway (towards MN from IA).
Definitely did not feel safe though and the road/engine noise was a racket.

Hitch-hiking in the Czech Republic in an American's Saab Turbo ---> 235 kph which is 146 mph!

Fastest I've ever personally driven in is my Mazda 6 SportWagon --> 195 kph which is 121 mph! Then the limiter kicked in. I tried this a couple of times on an open highway, miles from anywhere with good visibility, and it was still scary!
