What's the heat output on a P3-933 or 1Ghz like? Would a 13CFM fan be enough to cool it?

If I got a pre-tested P3-700 @ 933 or 1Ghz, would an FOP32 with a 13CFM fan be good enough to cool it?

Edit: It's a black FOP32 heatsink, with a 13CFM fan on top.

If it was stock I would say it should be ok.... but your OCing.. a FOP32 would be fine.. but one with a dinky fan.... it may work but it probably wont hit the prestested #s... most pre-tested are done with a FOP38 or something similar.

I have a P3-1Ghz that I have used a Golden Orb and a retail Intel fan for a 733 and with both the temp never got above 35

Thinkng about it, if you had good case cooling with good airflow over the cpu area, you might be able to pull it off. But ur prolly going with a 13cfm fan for quietness, so you prolly don't got much or any case cooling at all.

It would definitely be enough. I used this to OC a P3 700e to 933 @ 1.7V. It was completely stable. That particular cooler is rated up to a 1 gig P3.

Kyle reviewed it here. He hated it. It's not a powerful cooler, it's designed for silence. Something like a 12 cfm fan, & a tiny heatsink. A massive heatsink with the same airflow would almost certainly cool better.

That fan isn't bad. It performs about qas well as a gorb. I don't thik a FOP32 with 13cfm can could perform as well as a gorb. Or maybe I'm underestimating the fop+13cfm fan.

Just try the FOP out at default. Then step up.

P3's have an ondie thermal probe right? So the temp reading from a CUSL2 would be fairly accurate yes?

And yes I'm doing it for quietness.

I have a 13CFM 16db 60mm fan.

My back up plan is a 32CFM 26db fan.

26db isn't horrendously loud, but not as nice as as the Adda 60mm...

Hah. Beat my pair of Adda 40mm. Can't hear it at all through my case w/ no other fans on. Prolly only puts out 2-5 CFM per fan tho.

Noriaki:

You might check this fan. I have two of them. 20 dba, 28 cfm. Only drawback is they're 80mm, so you'll have to pick up an adapter. It's a sweet fan, & dead silent.

I'm going to be using one combined with an Alpha PAL6035 to take a TBird 800 to 1000+.

Egad! $20US + overseas shipping for an 80mm!

I can get the 32cfm 26db for $10 canadian + in canada shipping (I think it's about $2)

$40 for a single fan is a bit on the pricey side...thanks for the link though...

They're expensive, but they're not THAT bad. I bought two of those plus the molex cooler for ~$80 shipped.

Figure it's an investment in your sanity.

For $253 USD I would have gone & picked up a MB or HD & the OEM version of it. Or, there are always people on here selling OEM versions for cheap.

You buy your OS retail you're gonna get raped.

You can buy OEM if you buy a Mobo or HD :Q! I thought you had to buy a whole system....

Hmm I wonder if I can return it...I haven't broken the seal yet....

24-29 watts max dissipation. You could even run fanless with a sufficient heatsink & ASGII. My CuMine 600eb (16watts max) runs fanless with a low-profile Alpha FC15 heatsink and properly applied ASGII. It doesn't even get hot.

It'll be enough.

Recently my Golden Orb pooped out on me, and knowing me, I can't live for a few days without a computer, so I ran to a local shop and picked up a $12 Coolermaster fan and it keeps it at the same temps as the Gorb. 31-34C idle and highest I've seen is 46C full load

So is a Celeron going to survive at 950 with stock cooling fan and nothing else behind it?

So a P3 700E@933 would run fine with an FOP32 with Arctic Silver II and that 13CFM 16db Adda fan? Excellent...I think I might have to do that....the Adda fan is only $8 from Phan...a tube of AS2 is under $10...

I don't think I'll try right fanless, I do have a PSU fan (it's an enermax whisper series but still..it's there).

Thank you boys and girls.

By the way, I used that same 16dB Adda fan to cool my Tbird 1.066ghz until I switched to a quieter 80mm Panaflo which now cools the entire system
(pictures this week..please don't hound me it's an awfully busy week )

The Adda can cool a 1Ghz TBird??? Wow...that's impressive.

Maybe I'll try that.

I'm not quite as anti-noise as you are Leo, I think the Adda should be quiet enough for me.

Wot this cissy fan? With 13CFM?! The processor will be a right toast in no time at all!

Get one with at least 20+ CFM..

<< "Giveme FOP38!" >>

That's a 46dbA fan, this "cissy" 13cfm is a 16dbA. That's approximately 8 times the percieved loudness. I'm attempting to make my PC quiet. Thanks for the suggestion but I'll pass.
