I just put my9600XT back in. The resolutions that it supports do not accommodate the resolution of the 2005FPW, which is 1680x1050. The closest it gets is 1600x1200 (at least that is the closest res that it shows on my system via ATI Control Panel, which goes higher res than windows Display Properties list).
Here is a link that allegedly lists all the resolutions that the 9600XT supports.:

Surprisingly, it's top res is stated to be 2048x1536:60. It also states that this is "Max Resolution (External)". Not quite sure what "external" pertains to, but it doesn't seem to support the native resolutions of the 2005FPW or the 2405 FPW, and my understanding is that, with LCDs, one loses image quality when not running at native resolution.
Don't get me wrong, I
am considering ways to swing the 2405 (widescreen of the 2005FPW just seems like I'm giving up too much real estate...), which does necessitate a new card, but I can't see the advantage to buying a wide screen monitor and running it with a card that doesn't support the native resolution of the monitor.
Which brings us to a new issue. What reasonably priced card can be recommended that
does support the native res of the 2405(1920x1200)? I'm not really much on gaming, although with the magnitude of the 2405, I suppose gaming wouldn't really be out of the question. Viewing DVD movies, however, is something that I would do quite often. Is there a card out there that fits my needs (not the cheapest trash, but I don't feel the need to go top end either...)
Thanks again,
Meph
