Last book that I thoroughly enjoyed that comes to mind is The Wind-up Bird Chronicle. been a while, but I guess it has stuck with me, if it's the first thing that comes to mind.

I'm reading through the Dune series right now. Just finished the last book in the trilogy concerning the Butlerian Jihad. Three times the read with half the snooze of Lord of the Rings.

The Price - Machiavelli

Three books into Clausewitz's On War right now, reads a bit like a scientific textbook and is a tad dryer than The Prince, but I am learning a great deal. I started rereading it (the first three books) with a modern translation, much clearer. So far, I like it much better than The Art of War (Sun Tzu).
