What's the meaning behind your username?

Usernames can be soooooo strange sometimes and the only person who knows what it means is the person that created it.

I was just wondering what made some people pick the weird names that they have.

Since most probably don't know what significance my own username has I'll go ahead and begin by explaining mine just to get things going.

In my favorite piece of literature, 1984, the main distopian anti-hero archetype was Winston Smith. Once during the book, the television that the whole society was forced to keep in their living quaters projected a voice through it yelling at this main character. It mentioned his last name, Smith, and his identification number, 6079.

So, since my last name is not something I just wish to throw out constantly on the internet, I chose to use my first name coupled with my favorite character's identification number, 6079, hence "josh6079".

Does anyone else have a method by which they chose their username or did most just make something up and snatched whatever came to the top of their head?

Ulfhednar were a type of berserker warrior in norse culture. Like the berserker the ulfhednar would bite their shields and get into a frenzy, etc. but unlike the berserker they wore wolf coats and drank wolf blood before battle.

I used to race cars and i had a habit of having too much of something, too big of a motor, to much supercharger, etc.

Overkill seemed to fit that description.

My name is Francisco.

I've always been called cisco for short.

My friend gave me the name cisco kid when I was in 6th grade because that was also his favorite song at the time.

Signed up for AOL all the way back in junior high, ciscokid, ciscokidd, siscokid, siscokidd and every single damn variation was taken at the time.

So now it's neutered beyond repair and it has stuck.

my online gaming name too... and I got it from when I first started playing UnrealTournament 2003, and my character was a robot.. I attempted to create a name that had a robot 'sound' to it, and thus thought of the word destroyer, and changed up some letters to make it 'sound' as if it would be a robot name.

When I made my last build, my computer was conspiring against me.

That and I just thought it sounded cool.

Around the time I turned 21, disco was making a comeback. (I know, I know) My friends and I would go to thrift stores and buy polyester leisure suits and wire them with a row of LED's down each leg. We would then go out and hit the clubs. No mater where we were, the chicks really dug them and we got a lot of attention. We took trips to New York, Philly, Toronto, Pittsburgh, New Orleans and many other places, and everywhere people would ask how they could buy a pair of the pants. So lightpants.com was born. We would post the pictures from all the places we had gone and all the people we had met.
About that time I realized that the username "lightpants" was never taken when I signed up for anything and I started using it.

The STORY OF SCOOBMASTER
<-------------------------I

When I was in my last year of high school, some friends and I started working as co-ops in a local manufacturing plant. After a few weeks of getting acclimated, we were given some minute leadership roles over some smaller projects. This somtimes required us to lead a small group of temporary workers (unskilled laborers hired through an agency). These were usually men that had dropped out of school early in life and could not be trusted to use power tools safely My friends nicknamed them "Scooby-Dumbs" after Scooby-Doo's dimwitted Grey cousin. This soon becamed shortened to just "Scoobs". Somehow I seemed to be leading groups of these "Scoobs" more often than any of my co-workers - so they dubbed me the "Scoob-Master"!

This all took place back in the late '80s before Scooby-Doo became "retro-trendy" For reasons I cannot fathom, the moniker stuck.

So...... I have come to accept it.

I am the SCOOBMASTER!
