Any Microsoft Optical should be very accurate for gaming. I've been using an MS Optical for over 3 years now, best mouse I've ever used.

Ask any owner of the MX series, and you'll find out that it's the only way to go. If you have the money for the MX700, it's fantastic, otherwise, the MX500 has the same quality, just corded. You can find used 700s for real cheap. Check the FS/FT forums.

How about Pinky?

or the benevolent rats of nimh?

seriously, I think the new MS opticals are the most accurate, but accuracy is heavily dependant on hand motion and the surface you are using

I've been using a Microsoft Optical Blue mouse and it works great. I went from a balled mouse, to this one and the difference was amazing! I went from getting my ar$e kicked in UT2K3 every night, to kicking ar$e!

The MX series chokes on certain surfaces that the MS mice have no trouble reading. Keep that in mind. I still use an MX500, just because I find it more comfortable.

i have a logitech MX500 on the rough side of a Func1030 mousepad. This works extremely well. I am cal-main in counterstrike and precision is required. Ratzpad GS is another great pad.

for mice, this is my recommendation.

If you like microsoft:
MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0

If you like Logitech:
Logitech MX500

If you like Ball mouses:
Razer Boomslang 2000

The first 2 are optical and perform about the same, its just comfort preference.
The Razer boomslang easily outperforms the top 2 on a great mousepad, however, it requires regular cleanings and i dont think it has as many programmable buttons.

ive used a wide assortment of mice, and the one i like the best is the mx500 that a friend has. it is excellent for gaming, however, the mx700 is also good being cordless and all. i am not a big fan of the microsoft cordless mice, they feel bulky and slow when you use them. i say stick with logitech, you may even want to get the mx duo, which i beleive is just under $80 now.

I'm still sticking to my Boomslang. Have opticals really improved on the motion and accuracy of this killer? I don't know I got rid of my optical 2 years ago.

It depends on how accurate you want it really. And how much you are willing to spend.
The chances are, that if you`ve been using a ball mouse for ages, then a move to any optical mouse will feel accurate. But If you want the most accurate mouse of any type out then a MX500 or MX700 is the only way to go.

i got the logitech elite duo
and i love the mouse that comes with it
the only problem is batteries they die right when you are playing a game and are about to die
that always sucks
and i just use a regular old spongbob squarpants mouse pad
i love it

You can get the Elite Duo MX now, that comes with the MX700.
The MX700 has a charging station/reciever bty, so you wont have to worry about the battery running out on you.

In the strictest sense of accuracy, the boomslang wins with a resolution of 2000 dpi. The logitech dual optical has 2 800 dpi sensors for some net value between 1600 & 800.

I prefer optical though.

The boomslang aint no where near as accurate as a MX500/700.
The MX500/700 can process 4.7megapixels/sec . The Razor Boomslang cant even manage half of that.
