I just did an inventory and it turns out to be my 22" Proview LCD that I bought for $160

Either the 8800GT or the e6750. Don't exactly remember the prices when I bought them.

But if we're talking cash, then apparently it's my E8400, with the 8800GT coming in as a close second. I'm not sure about the monitor: do presents count?

If we're talking about "current value", even then it would still be my Core2Duo EE proc. Followed by my Bad Axe II. However, I didn't pay for them, they were gifts...so out of pocket, the most expensive part would have to be my Armor. Although, in a few months in will be my new videocard...

My 19-inch Envision LCD. It cost $400 (after $200 rebate) at Costco's Black Friday sale several years ago. Great deal at the time.

Before I split my surround setup in 2, it was ~$9k msrp for audio...although I "only" spend around $7k

Inside the "box", it would be my 9600GT. Everything together, it would be my 19" Samsung 910t LCD monitor.

My 280 euro 8800gts 320mb. Then my 200 euro monitor, followed by my 110 euro case, p182. Then the CPU 100 euro's, or even my 500gb HD haha, I think it was more expensive then my CPU iirc

If you figure what the item is worth and not what I actually paid, then that would be my case: Silverstone Kublai KL03. I have no need for a powerful system, but I do like a roomy and functional case.

My stupid motherboard (way too expensive), then my overpriced ram, then my cpu, followed by my 22" lcd.
Hindsight is 20/20 so they say and I know things that I would not have bought now had I known what might have changed with specs and pricing very shortly after purchasing my parts.

Sounds kinda pathetic, but I think my Lian-Li case. I am a budget overclocker and nothing I own cost too much money, really.

The maid who cleans my keyboard and keeps the operator in a good mood

If your talking about hardware that would be my CPU, x3350 penryn. Not much of a gamer so I don't have an ubber GPU. But for me software is the big expense

I definitely agree. My big case continues to be the cornerstone of my big builds, and I don't know if I'll ever be able to max it out.

Monitor (Dell 2407FPW). It's about 18 months old; I paid $650 for it which was a screaming good deal at that time.

My HD subsystem cost more total (roughly $1600), but it's three parts (RAID controller, Hotswap cages, drives).

When I purchased it, my Dell 1905FP cost over $300 (on sale, with coupon!), and I was glad of the price. Otherwise it's a near-run thing: my Xeon E3110 cpu cost very slightly over $200, and my ASUS EN9600GT cost very slightly under.

But as with most of you, I'd rather lose all my 'hardware' than the 'software' (viz the data I've assembled over the years -- and not just the pr0n, heh).
