What's the most number of hours you've worked in a week

I've worked 60 and 80 hour weeks back to back before When I was in catering and in manufacturing. I'm in IT now and it usually stays around 40-50.

You know, anytime I start to complain about my IT hours (typically 50 to 70 per week), I remember back to my days in food service (which at one point was like 80 hours a week, 7 days a week) & quit whining. IT is far less stress & fewer hours than the crazy world of food ever was

50 to 70 is fine if you do it rarely, but if these are your normal hours and you're not the owner of the company, time to start looking. I've done my share of regular 60-80 hour weeks and I won't do it again.

I've had few crazy weeks over the years...particularly when I was a consultant. I learned my lesson from those experiences. While I was well compensated for it, I value my time outside of work too much for that. I rarely work more than 40 hours a week.

Was a dishwasher, and busboy at 16, 17 years old. Worked 74 hours, took home 76 dollars.

When I was working for Simplots spreading fertilizer, we did a lot of 100+ hour weeks for about 3 months. The day that they laid me off I thanked them profusely, then went to bed for a couple of days.

my daughter is on a Carrier and when at sea its 12 hours, no days off until in port or back in home port.

HA simplots, damn i havent thought of them in years. they have a potato processing plant in Grand Forks ND and used to give away free fries and tots all the time.

On deployment in the Navy, probably 16-20 hours a day when we were doing two watch sections. That was brutal.

At my current job, I've put in overtime once in fifteen years and that was only a half day.

50ish, it was "temporary" mandatory overtime that lasted 3 months before I finally left. That is not a sign of a well run company.

80 to 100 occasionally. did it for way too long, maybe 5 months, got burned out so bad i couldn't do anything. had to cut down to 55/60.

Yeah, we're using Labtech now and got that shit dialed in. Most off hours stuff is now automated

85 hours working + 10 hours driving to and from work

that was in the midst of 6 months of 60-70 hour weeks

for 50$k a year and no overtime... no thanks

Longest was 72 hours. Came off a weekend night shift for physical inventory to my regular time, turning into a split double, then I did 10-12 hours for the rest of the week.

Early in the account we did 60-70 hour work weeks for four months straight, stretching around the holiday season. No day off except for Thanksgiving, Christmas...and maybe one other Sunday. OT isn't approved nearly as much now.

I remember one particular month when I was trying to get hired into a Tool Shop long ago it was a trail thing and was working two jobs. Was working 100+ hours at the time, not including driving.

They called the wife one day at the end of the month, and she basically told them she could not wake me up and was going to let me sleep, I had to tell them either hire me full time or I can't do it.

How I got into my apprenticeship there, which is pretty much not even that useful these days after 30 years

Never figured out why it's a badge of honor to burn yourself out at a job. I only do it because I have to, and the OT checks are righteous. Other than that, I have little to no home life, and come mid November I am running on fumes.

I was lead for my group for mission 13A / STS117 back in 2007. Thanks to the mission mostly being my hardware and some real-life "Mark Watney" crap that went on I pulled about 97 hours the first week.

How about you guys?

Maybe 50 hours at work. Probably more in grad school.

dept went into 24hr ops for 2 months.
7 12s (84hrs) night shift @ straight pay

next was 80hrs. 6 12s + 8hrs sun for a week, day shift.
0-40hrs: straight time.
40-60hrs: 1.5x
60+ hrs: double time

work 80hrs, got paid 110hrs = avg 1.37x
dayshift + overtime made it a little more tolerable.


best:
2 8hr weekdays @ straight pay
sat 12hrs @ 1.5x
sun 12hrs @ double time

worked 40hrs, got paid 58 = avg 1.45x
and I only worked 4days/week!

but they worked you hard on sat, and they're riding u like a 3 dollar whore on sun
