What's the most powerful, moving, intense movie scene ever filmed?

So many to choose from.... but IMHO, it has to be the village burning scene from Platoon... i don't think i'll ever be able to watch that movie without being troubled by it.

So what movie scene, from any movie, and any genre, in your opinion, would qualify for you as being that one scene that will forever burn in your mind?

Boy that pretty much narrows it down.

As far as scenes that are forever burned into my head, there are too many to choose from. There are tons of good movies out there, but one that comes to mind is when Brad Pitt is dealing with Kevin Spacey in Se7en towards the end of the film and finding out what's in the box.

I just have problems watching that. Second would be the Private Ryan scene mentioned below where the soldiers are playing Tom Thumb on the doc after he had been turned to swiss cheese by the turrent.

for me... from what i can remember... it was the ending of 'crouching tiger hidden dragon' when jen jumped off the cliff... i was dazed and confused for a while after that.. some really deep sh!t

EDIT: yeah man.. that made perfect sense to me.. I cant really explain it, but its on a spiritual level. It has to do with her discovering the secrets/power of life and how overwhelming it was.. like in the last love scene.. she was starring into space.. becuz she has experienced such intense levels with the world she couldnt bring herself back to that level... sooo.. jumping off the cliff, releasing her soul, she is becomming one with the power, releasing herself.. i donno.. haha.. u just gotta have the head for that stuff i guesss... most of my friends didnt get it either
