Most I've paid was $640+tax for an NEC Multisync 3D, back in 1990. It died after 10 months, but the replacement was in daily use until just over a year ago at my (former) computer repair shop. It was great in that it even had a 9 pin adaptor so it could work with CGA and monochrome video cards. AFAIK it still works, but was shelved in favor of something that will take today's standard refresh rates. Still, it's ready for that occasional old heap-o-trash that shows up which the newer monitors won't syncrhonize to.
