The G35 is very uncomfortable for me. I have a large head and it is created for those with a smaller noggin. So if you use large sized helmets or anything, don't get it!!! I gave it away because I didn't like it at all. Sounded ok, not spectacular, but so uncomfortable.

Good info. I guess I dodged a bullet by not choosing the G35.

No, it does not need a sound card. In fact, it works better with the onboard sound (mobo based sound) disabled. I do not have a separate sound card and have not used one in years.

How does it work better with onboard sound disabled but with no sound card in an expansion slot?

What processes audio? The headset?

Sennheiser doesn't have great options in the higher end, I think the 350s are really about as good as you can go. Beyer Dynamics are grossly overpriced. it's like $250 headphones with a mic attached for $400. Wut? I'm sure the mic is waaaaaay better than anything else you can get, but how good a mic do you really need for voice chat?

What??? Have you even looked? Obviously not. The pc350 aren't even their highest end model.

They have a Dolby 7.1 option and two models above the pc350 that are stereo with better materials and different sound.

I have the G930 as well. It is a good gaming headset, but you might have to disable your onboard sound to get it to work right. Took me forever to figure that out. When onboard sound is enabled you might get constant crackling and popping through the headset. Disabling it gets rid of the crackle, but does not otherwise affect the headset's performance.

Yeah I had the same issues when i got mine. However depending on what I am doing I switch to desktop speakers for my morning coffee/forum browsing. All I do is change default sound choice and all set.

All in all one of the best bang for buck headsets of its time.

I just spent 10 hours with mine on working on a work project listening to pandora. Took them off for about 10 minutes when I got a snack and threw them on the charger for that time then they went right back on.

Great headset if it fits your budget. Glad to hear another positive review. Most people claim the wireless is crap and won't try them.

The wireless is most certainly not crap. I can walk up to 40 feet away and still have signal. The only time I ever had issues was a very strong wireless signal in the same area. Otherwise not a single issue. Running on Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit.

Are there any that don't go over top of the head? I am looking for a new headset and I'd really like wireless and a behind the head design. I would much prefer to not have my hair messed up by the headset; I am incredibly vain, in cause you were wondering.

They make them for cheap-o headsets, but I'd prefer to have sound quality above that of a tin can tethered via a string.

Sennheiser uses an open back design on many of their headsets so they are more open sounding and less of the "sound is in your head" feeling of closed back. It's what I use. Sennheiser is a high end brand so you pay high end prices for their sets. The sound quality difference between Logitech and Sennheiser is night and day though. For nearly twice the price, it should be. I have the Sennheiser PC360 which is a stereo headset(it has been rebranded as the G4ME One headset). I am not a fan of surround headsets because I don't feel they offer the separation and spaciousness necessary for a true 5.1/7.1 experience like a quality set of speakers will. They do offer the PC363D which is a Dolby 7.1 surround headset. They also have a closed back set in the G4ME Zero headset(this is stereo). Instead of an open back they have steel grids placed where the open mesh would be in order to isolate you from the outside a bit more. All their sets have a noise cancelling microphone that self mutes when you tilt it up and click it in place. They do also offer some lower end options as well and all of them are fully circumaural so they completely cover your ears.

I'm a big fan of Sennheiser headphones. I love their sound...it's somewhat unique and very pleasant to listen to. They are built exceptionally well and are super comfortable with plenty of padding on the earcups and headband. I have worn my headset for well over 2 hours and never felt like I needed a break or got tired of them. I feel like my PC360s will last a very long time as well. The kicker is their higher end headsets start at $250 which might eliminate them as an option for some people on a budget. The PC360 I use are available from amazon for $166 currently since it has been replaced with a new model. I paid $225 for mine last year. The bonus IMO is the higher end Sennheiser headsets use the same drivers and sound signature as some of their audiophile grade headphones for music with slightly different frequency response and impedance levels. They are fantastic for just listening to music as well.

Had logitechs that needed to be replaced every couple of months back when I played SWG/BF2...then I found the Sennheiser brand. My first one was flawless until my dog got tangled up in the cord, freaked out, and ruined a soldered connection. I ended up replacing that headset and am still using it today (PC166).

Headset still works flawlessly but I wanted a circum-aural instead of one that sits on my ears...

In short, because of your post I ended up purchasing the PC360 off of amazon. Thanks!

But the headset itself has some amazing sound. Believe it or not and it's not directed right at you, but there are better headsets than Turtle Beach and Logitech lol.

Of course, but I don't want to spend $250 on a headset unless I'm using it in the studio to make music.

Those do look pretty good, though (specs, not the asthetic).

I have the DT770's and they are amazing. I just ordered a modmic for it. The reason I say that headset has an expensive mic, is because I think those cans are the same as the DT770 but cost twice as much. Therefore, that's an expensive mic attached to them because its costing over $100.
I got the DT770's for $175.00. The modmic was $30.00. The headset is over $300.

Not that I need another pair, but how are the PC360's compared to the new model? Always the question when buying a discounted, replaced model.

It certainly looks like they just uglied up the pc360 and renamed it...

Bleh, lots of expensive recommendations for something that's a set of headphones with a microphone. How much money does a guy actually need to spend to curse out noobs online?

Senny 558's + mic of your choice. The 598's if you're feeling flush. I used to run a headset, but after switching to dedicated cans and a separate mic there's no going back.
