Give up. I called for days and was put on hold forever with the exact same problem. Ultimately broke down and fixed it myself. The cable is broken near the body. You need to cut the cable and splice it into the connector inside the mouse.

Or go buy a different mouse...

My old Explorer did the same thing, and this replacement is now doing the same thing. I just wiggled the wire and the damn thing cut off...cheap MS crap!! I'll give them a call in the morn, the number should be in GH. It pops up at least once or twice a week.

???

Just guessing, from here.

I've had excellent luck with my Logitech Optical wheelmouse, the funky blue & silver one.

Here's the first number to call where you explain your problem and they give you a case #

1-425-454-2030

Then they have you call this # to get a RMA

1-800-370-9255

Cheers!

Heh I have almost the same mouse myself, Viper...mine's the Logitech iFeel mouse. I wouldn't recommend shelling out the extra $$ for this one as opposed to the regular Logitech optical, though. I mainly bought it because the only other option was a plain-jane white one, and I needed some style... Vanity is great!

One question, though...do you have some issues with your mouse wheel in games? I've found that in CS, I can't "click" the mouse wheel, or else I'll get the little circle that comes up when clicking the wheel in a web browser. And in Kingpin, I can't even get the game to recognize the wheel even exists, so changing weapons with it is impossible. Right now I have the wheel setting in the config program at "Autoscroll"...wonder if maybe there's a better option?

I just got off the phone with the 800-360-7561 number. Was on there for only 5 minutes and didn't even have to get an RMA # or speak to a technician. I asked what should I do, and she said "I can replace that for ya."

It's backordered for 3-4 weeks though

That's funny. Are the MS Mouse users supposed to navigate using keyboard only during this time? Or do they expect us to have a spare mouse--in which case they are openly admitting that their product is seriously flawed?

I got one replaced by using their website to open an incident. I actually got 2 mice since the person originally responding to my incident went on vacation after placing the order for the new one so the person that took the case over also placed an order for one. When told they gave me 2 mice they told me to enjoy the extra.

Stupid POS mouse. Just stopped working all together. And you know what the fix is? Open the cheap crap up and loop the wire inside it. Then I put some electricians tape on the part that now gets put into those little holders and pinched. I bet this will last another yr, but I'm still gonna call microsoft up and get a new mouse.

Most people I know have enough mice to fill a dump truck.
But think about it, its MS, why would they care about sending out mice at the drop of a hat?

Yea same thing here. RMA'd two of them. Microsoft sent 2 of the wrong mouse then sent 2 of the right ones for a total of 4. I then went and fixed them like some people have said. If you can wiggle the wire and make it cut out just loop the wire inside and put it back together.

The work around for that is to shutdown the Logitech mouseware program before you play a game. You'll see it when you hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete (EM_Exec). I made a shortcut to EM_Exec.exe on my desktop so I could restart it when I was finished playing.

It's a hidden file, BTW.

What you need to do is go into the mouse properties that is in your taskbar, and assign the third button something usefull or nonfunctional in the game, that is, if you don't mind losing your little scrolly thing.
