What's the point of dreadlocks?

I understand it is a personal choice and I respect that, but I really don't see any redeeming feature of having dreadlocks.

It is not aesthetically pleasing at all and it smells horrible if the person doesnt take good care of it.

Dreads are simply a hairstyle, most recently associated with Rastafarianism but worn in many cultures the world over. They are not indicative in and of themselves of any behavior or personalities. To believe otherwise is prejudicial.

Same as non black guy having long hair. Kinda a rebel look which is cool to me as I had long hair as a young guy. Now the neck tats and weird piercings I can't get behind.

personally, i think dreads are quite attractive and they don't always smell. you did however forget to mention that they are quite scratchy/itchy and you can't run your fingers through them.
