I actually like Minecraft PE. I can play it on the iPad with my grandson while sitting on the couch, and I find it relaxing. I don't really understand it on the PC, where you can play so many games that are so much better. Kinda like hiring a prostitute and painting her toenails.

i've found that people that ask "what's the point of minecraft?" prefer their video games to be as dumbed-down and on-rails as possible. hey, you pressed the space bar! have 10 golden stars!

And ironically LEGO attempted their own games and creation programs several times. And failed miserably each time.

The LEGO licensed games have been successful. Although it's difficult to say if that's really a "LEGO" game when it's LEGO Batman, Star Wars, Harry Potter etc.

Uhhh by playing it on the PC you have access to pretty much limitless mods. That's the beauty and WHY you should be playing it on the PC.



As I sit here and defend MC, please note, I've never played it, but have watched my children play waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many hours worth of it.

I love content creation apps. I've even written one. Ironically, Minecraft intentionally limits itself relative to what's possible to achieve on a computer which is why I dislike it.

He didn't limit himself for the fun of it, he was one guy.
Short of starting from scratch and losing all compatibility and existing "stuff", there's the option to either add to what's there or lose it all.

Minecraft is what as known as a sandbox game, there are no explicit goals you just get an environment to play in and you largely make your own fun, mostly focused around adventuring, resource gathering and constructing interesting environments.

Me either. Seems to be a movement toward embracing crappy. My oldest grandson's girl friend was making over my flip phone. Reason being she assumed I was like some of her snootier twenty-something friends - they all have the latest smart phones, but they also have flip phones so they can sit in coffee shops and be admired for not embracing our consumerist culture. She seemed to be relieved to find out I'm not snooty, just a cheap old bastard.

See, that doesn't sound interesting at all. Basically, you can do that in Grand Theft Auto except there you actually gain something from it. Also, the graphics aren't intentionally crappy. Did I mention that?
