My daughter (11 years old) is a mod on a server were some of the creations are... mindblowingly impressive. She plays the game for the creativity side of it all.

My son (13 years old) plays it for the "game" portion. He plays on a lot of servers with Hunger Game mods and such.

The generic game, out of the box, is a snooze fest. The mods and what people have done with the base game are quite impressive.

What is the purpose of any other game? to complete it? if so, you have a strange sense of meaning. Games in general should be fun. As such, minecraft is supposed to be entertaining.

Very much so... though Quake wasn't overly into the "creativity" side of it I guess. But the mods (either in gameplay/visuals/creativity) make it into anything you want it to be.

To be fair we didn't have as many females back in gaming then. Creativity was defined in how many enemies your BFG could zap at once, and what color lightning it used.

To me and the people I play with the point is to let your imagination run wild. You can literally create anything in Minecraft. It's like when you were a child and you took that box of lego bricks and dumped them on the floor and just created whatever you wanted to. Whether it be a house or a car or a spaceship or a dragon just whatever you wanted to build you could.

That's why the mods are so popular because you can take whatever world you want and make it real inside the game.

I actually like Minecraft PE. I can play it on the iPad with my grandson while sitting on the couch, and I find it relaxing. I don't really understand it on the PC, where you can play so many games that are so much better. Kinda like hiring a prostitute and painting her toenails.
