Whats the smallest cheapest receiver I can get from Amazon?

Already have 12 gauge wire and some old spring clip speakers.

Its for my computer. Tired of weak sound.
It just needs to be stereo and I really only need one input. I got adapters so I can go RCA to mini with no issue, or almost anything else.

Question:

Audio fidelity wise, what's usually the better play? An older receiver (say the sort of thing that'd be around $100-$150 now) or one of these amps, all other things being equal?

I would most likely prefer the sound of the older receiver (assuming its pre-80's). Of course, there are other variables such as the condition of the older equipment.

And cost/quality depends completely on where you buy. $100 buys some amazing things a thrift store (if you can find it) and not nearly as much on ebay.

I use a Lepai and an old pair of bookshelf speakers on one of my computers like you are planning to do. The only downside is that it is a fairly powerful amp (especially for being the size of a deck of cards), and the volume control is a little insensitive at low volumes, so about 1 degree on the knob is the difference between inaudible and really darn loud.

If you did order from Amazon, I hope you ordered the version that includes the power brick; when I ordered mine there were two sku's. One with the brick and one without.

Could be that the unit uses a linear pot instead of a log pot.

You'll love it. It's a beast for the price. I've driven some crazy things with mine and use it with a lot of DIY projects - everything from custom-made speakers to Bose bookshelves to 70's Pioneer monkey coffins.

I assume most people just let it sit on the desk next to the monitor if its for a computer setup.
