In my case, it was related to the fact that my Asus MB doesn't like to run ram @ 1T with any high HTT. Thankfully the board is faster at 2T then most at 1T.

maybe it was your RAM not able to run at 1T cmd rates?

just a thought..

Talking about wird, how about a computer (at work) which wouldnt even boot up. I had no idea what to do with it anymore, tried swaping memory, CPU, GPU, SATA-IDE disks, until while doing something else friend from work swaped monitor???!!!
I mean WTF, monitor making system not working?
Anyone had expirience like that?

Is that on an nForce board? I had random restart problems as well until I disabled activearmor - and uninstalled all of nvidia's bloatware for ethernet. Fixed it.

There are some settings on my DFI board that are really flaky, and I don't mean Windows-acting-weird flaky. When I was still trying to max out my Opty, there were some settings that were 100% stable when I tested them (Prime, 3DMark, gaming, general use, what-have-you), but booting after a restart wouldn't take. Those of you with Ultra-D's, you know how your board goes to the NVRAID boot screen when you've overclocked your CPU or NB too high? That's exactly what it'd do, regardless whether I raised or lowered voltages. I never figured out what it was, so I just stopped messing with it.

I have a feeling these 90nm A64's are more sensitive to voltages than we realize and they will be more prone to failure like the earlier Intel Northwoods. Just something to keep a look out for.

Alot of people that took their Winnies over 1.65V with air found themselves with a dead CPU a few weeks later after they'd been running sweetly up until the point they died. Not too surprising though really.

If you were refering to my post, I meant overclocks like mine with voltages only 1.45 and is still prone to failure.

well i had my system dual priming for like 8 hours at 1.325v then suddenly it froze, so stability is not really garentied when the sys pased prime.

weirdest thing i had with my system is when u overclock and it fails sometimes the loading bios boot logo the dfi one comes out all garbadged, once i entered bios like that and it was just random black lines on a blue screen, looked really weird. Turn the thing of and back on and its fine. Same thing happened when i was overclocking the asus a8v too much at 280HTT the boot screen is all colourful and the writing is all over the place.

Very few people on this board regard priming for 8 hours as an indication of stability. Generally the accepted norm is 24 hours. And yes, your system may still be unstable after this test it's just not very likely and if it is unstable is, in my experience, more likely to be a software issue.

Never said 8 hours was stability, just pointing out that even that even priming could not mean full stability. Anyways its running at 1.375v and that is stable prime (i stoped after 14 hours, i used this speed for over a months now, encoding games etc, not a single problem, i was just trying to see if i can reduce the voltage.), i recon 0.05v is enough to cover unstability which happened raqndomly after 8 hours
