People like them because they are a yeast raised donut. They are light and fluffy, not a heavy sitting, dry, bland, and boring cake donut.

One opened here (in Rochester, NY) a year ago, I think. When it first opened, the line for the drive through wrapped twice around the building. I've tried their donuts, and I think they suck. I can't fathom why people would only go there. I like the donuts from Tops (a supermarket chain, if you don't know; I don't know how far the chain extends) and they aren't the "Krispy Kreme-in-a-supermarket" kind, they are made for the stores by some supplier. IMO, they are infinitely better than Krispy Kreme's, and a hell of a lot cheaper.

Krispy Kreme is probably the best REAL donut on the face of the planet. There has been only one donut Ive ever had that is better than a Krispy Kreme custard filled donut, and that is the Buttercreme Bakery custard donut.

I live less than 20 mins from the Krispy Kreme corporate headquarters

There is only 1 KK in Ontario and that is 2 hours away from me. Its not worth it. Besides, I have tried 1 while warm and I still prefer Tim Horton's.

I also love cake donuts too.

They would be good, if they didnt have that nasty layer of glaze on every fricking donut. Its nasty. I'll take Shipleys, over KK, simply because the only donuts I like are chocolate frosted, and well with KK they come with that nasty layer of glaze.

I don't know why people like KK, Ive had better yeast donuts. I guess some people like that nasty glaze they put on every donut.

Actually, I'm with the others who mentioned real Amish donuts. It's not some lack of taste for yeast-risen donuts. As I already said, I prefer "real" donuts over these "Taco Bell" donuts any day, but if I had to choose betweek KK and DD, I'd go for Dunkin Donuts.

I wasn't "raised" on any donuts. In fact, I rarely eat donuts at all. But I still think that Krispy Kreme donuts suck, and in the rare instances that I do eat a donut, you can be assured that it will NOT be from Krispy Kreme, if I can help it.

i was a raised philadelphia so i haven't heard of krispy kreme, i've always had dunkin donuts and and local bakeries.

then i moved to rochester ny, and tried krispy kreme for the first time....good lord it was heavenly. Eating a donut right off the line should be on everyone's list of things to do before they die.

And after eating krispy kreme, i'm absolutely amazed that dunkin donuts is still in business!

I just bought a half dozen at the grocery store, gonna microwave them so they're warm when I eat them. They're sooooo good.

But the glazed are the only ones worth eating there. Everything else isn't that good, I prefer dunkin donuts of I'm going to get non-glazed.

I think these new store opening are a bit staged. There's always tons of media and lines a mile long then after a week or 2 the lines go WAY down. It wouldnt surprised me to find out if people are somehow paid or something to get in line real early so they can get a lot of hype and media attention.

Who waits in line over an hour for a doughnut? I'm just a little skeptical I guess.
