Ellen Pao sounds like a douchey wise and beautiful woman bitch

Well.. just to play Devil's Advocate, a lot of the active Reddit users are antisocial douchebags as well. You couldn't pay me enough to have to babysit some of those subreddits.

You mean people didn't leave the site in droves because of the awful format? Could have fooled me!

People are acting like entitled children because they were not involved in a corporate decision.

Chick sounds more like a totalitarian ruler of Reddit than an executive.

My understanding is that the abrupt termination of the AMA admin without adequate warning or support from Reddit seriously impacted the unpaid moderators ability to do their (free) jobs. Scheduled AMAs couldn't be done because they had no way to get in contact with the celebrities or verify their identity. The admin previously handled a ton of behind the scenes things and smoothed out the process for both sides. This is why various subs that offered AMAs were taken down initially. The other subs followed suit in protest of what seems to be pretty poor communication.

The general issues with the CEO go back to her personal legal battles and the banning of offensive subs.

that and the fact that she's incompetent and literally tried to fuck her way to the top and then sued (and lost) when called on it

No loss OP, Reddit is dominantly teenage boys and their pent up rage or their terrible humor that just aims to offend now.

Any possibility the AMA admin could start a competing site centered around celebrity AMA's? Someone said that's their bread and butter, so it would be pretty cool to see the site lose a huge portion of their userbase. Sounds like a lot of the mods would follow her.

Possibly some sort of clause in her initial contract preventing that scenario from happening?

This is what happened. The AMA admin wanted to keep AMA's the way they were, Reddit wanted to add video and other media options. They fired her over the difference in vision and that in turn broke a link in a long chain. This pissed a lot of people off and led to a revolt.

Lots of ways to work around a difference of vision. Including letting the admin just manage the contacting/logistics and a new media whateverthetitle handle the actual event.

Hey, sorry if I'm derailing this thread, but since there's a few reddit people here I have a question. A friend of mine claimed she had some, shall we say, private pics show up on reddit and that a mutual acquaintance of ours stumbled across them and then posted them to his tumblr. Thing is there could've been about 9 months between when the links to her pics were put up there and when the person in question came across them. With all the stuff that gets put up there how likely could it be hat he just 'stumbled across them'? My real guess is that she gave him the pics and he posted them and that she's trying to save face. It's more my inquisitive nature trying to see if her explanation is plausible, though doubtful. Thanks in advance.

AFAIK Reddit links to other websites. The pics existed somewhere else on the internet.

if he put them on tumbler any idiot who saw them could have linked them or downloaded them and uploaded to a different image host

maybe the post with the pics got many upvotes in whatever subreddit it was in, which also happened to be visited by this guy, or he found out her username and so could find her posts, or he found out the pics on whatever platform they were hosted on (e.g. imgur). Randomly stumbling across a post sounds difficult if it doesn't end up in the top posts or something.
All very unlikely unless he knew her reddit handle.

That's pretty much what I thought. I just wanted confirmation from people with more reddit knowledge.

She could have posted them directly to Reddit using a site like imgur, and your friend who might happen to know her username on Reddit can look through her post history to see any and everything she had posted in the past.
