What's up with the new version of Clone CD?

I just went to download the new version of Clone cd and it says that some things are disabled for the US and UK. Does anyone have any information on this?

BTW.. Does anyone have the trial download of 3.1.1.0 they could share?

Probably disables things that would let you copy safedisc games.. I know on just about any burner you can copy safedisc 1 games with clonecd.. some let you do SD2.

Might be part of our wonderful DMCA.

The setting that is disabled is the one that helps copy SD2 games.

They are new features that are disabled for US and UK users, that seem to enable most cd writers(that couldn't previously do SD2) to copy SD2 games.

There are a couple of workarounds, but that's a subject on thin-ice here =-O

Ok.. So it doesn't disable what we already have, it just doesn't enable something for the future. Correct?

Found this but haven't tried it:

"Simply type "regedit" in the run menu & use the "find" function to locate "amplify weak" in the registry.
once found select "modify" & change to value from "0" (off) to "1" (on).
This will turn the option on once & for all - or untill you manually change the value back to 0 if you like.
It is very easy, but don't attempt this if you feel uncomfortable."

Yep, I found the "Amplify Weak" setting in the registry. I don't know if it fixes the first feature, but I'd like to find out how to fix the second feature (Hide CDR Media). I'm not in the US or Europe, but for some reason the CloneCD installer detected that I'm in the US region, so I'd want to have all these disabled features enabled.

Is this just with the latest version (The amplify settings) ? I've got 1 or 2 versions back and I won't bother upgrading if I don't need to, but this will be nice if I can get SD2 games to work.

it's ok.. I somewhat prefer it. It gets the dates the way I like them anyway (dd/mm/yyyy) and I'll be living there in a year or two anyway, might as well be able to back up games properly in the meantime

And for the record, it worked on the one game I tried so far.. Alice. It takes about 15 seconds to get started, the original because of unsafedisc takes about 8 seconds as it is, so it's not that bad I guess.
