how it effect on game quality you know some pics for difference between Vsync On and Vsync Off Help me tanx

Vertical synchronization (v-sync) refers generally to the synchronisation of an event with the vertical blanking interval. Generally video displays are refreshed sequentially and on older CRT based displays, a short delay is required between updating the lowest horizontal line of the display and returning to refresh the highest. This delay, which is preserved by more modern display equipment, gives an opportunity in computer graphics to alter the contents of a framebuffer without visible graphical errors such as partially redrawn graphics or page tearing (when the top part of the display shows part of one frame and the bottom part shows of another).

And no, we can't give screenshots because it has to do with the way things are presented in motion on your monitor, nearly impossbile to capture. Why don't you try a few games with vsync on and off, you definitly have a capable system.

Turning off vsync can cause tearing in some situations.

If you're going to use vsync be sure to use triple buffering as well.

I HAVE to use vsync with my 2005fpw or I get horrible tearing. It limits my FPS to the nearest 20, 30 or 60, but it helps tremendously. If no one's posted pics or video by this afternoon I will try and show you.

Vsync + Triple buffering is great. however, vsync by itself kinda sucks. You get lower fps in order to match the vblank

Well, I have just proven myself an idiot by trying to record an example of tearing by using fraps. I didn't realize it until I had recorded a short vid with vsync both on and off and couldn't determine which was which. Looks like I will be providing no example today...

I've always ran without Vsync in order to achieve max performance, I just run with 100hz refresh rate on my CRT to prevent screen tearing.

That was one of many reasons I returned my LCD ..It looked terrible with vsync disabled.

It basically allows rendering to a third framebuffer which prevents the rendering stalls you get with vsync + double buffering.

When I run Oblivion with vsync on with 7900GTX SLI it is abysmal. Hiccups and stutters oh my! Turn it off and 1920X1200 sweetness. MMMM

Heh, that is becuase Fraps or anything else like that records images from the framebuffer, where as tearing is something that happens at the display.

If you want to make a screenshot of what it would look like on the display without vsync; just take two screenshots real quick while moving and then paste an upper half or so of the first screenshot on top of the second screenshot.

You have to do a vid_restart in the console when toggling vsync on / off from the game menu (or you could just exit the game / reload it).

But Prey tears a lot, A LOT. It's a great game to show what vsync does.

Running Prey on my Dell 2405 WS I had to turn V-sync on to get rid of severe tearing. Seems to run fine with it on.

How do I ensure "triple-buffering" is turned on?
