I bought a retail celeron 600 for my little cousin.
But I notice the core is very different compare to my former system C2-533@800.
You can see those cache thingy? or whatever filled up on that little square area ....

It is SL4NX
week 42 (NOV. 11,2000)
batch Q042A194

Haven't received the slotket to OC, but any info you can provide will be appreciated.

It's a cC0 stepping. Is default voltage 1.7?
They look exactly like the belly of a PIII now. :Q

Wow, He did a much better job of drawing that than I did.

Yes that is the layout on the underside of the new Cco stepping Celerons. The default voltage is indeed 1.7V. As for Overclocking potential I really haven't seen much difference at 600 or less. I do believe the 633 will benefit from a higher voltage allowed. As for 667 and up ... the multiplier is still too damn high for a 100FSB Overclock.

Intel is simply trying to pump thier yeilds with the V-Core increase. Yeilds UP and prices stable .... Go figure (or buy Intel stock)

Edit: Use an MSI Slotket and 1.8V - 1.85V and you should get an easy 900. Be satisfied at that cause the odds are 1,000,000 to 1 that it would hit a Gig.

Wolfman, I've tried 20+ 633 cC0 and frankly it's been 50% so far that would run 100MHz fsb. That is at up to 1.95v. That's not what I had hoped.

I see....
when I got the slotket, I will try as high as it can go..
and then back down to 66FSB for my cousin

p.s. just hope this can hit 100fsb, does newer chip make any different?
after all, this one is only about a month old from the factory.

Steve, I've been having the best luck with the 566's. Better than half will run at 112 and ALL I've gotten have run at 100 with retail cooling in poorly ventilated cases on low budget 693 Mobo's. Duron??? Bah humbug. (But I sure can't sell a Celeron on Anandtech)

Question is ..... Will the "NEW" ones run at 133FSB?? Personally I can't wait to find out!!!

Edit: (Also can't wait to find out what the cache depth is on the 100FSB Celeries. Here's hoping for an 8)

After serveral attempts... this so called PIII-like celeron 600 refuse to run at 100FSB. Using ABIT BE6, I pumped the voltage all the way to 1.95V wherea 1.7 default w/ Gorb, and still..........

Timekeeper, what slotket are you using?

Believe it or not it make a difference.

Worst is Abit III (lots of cpus wont boot on these)

Second worst is Iwill II (Just an ok Slotket)

Next to best is Asus

Best is MSI 6905 Master. (These have booted cpus at OC'd speeds I could not get booted on all the other three).

You might give something else a try.

Rahn924, we have the exactly the same setup here! Now let me guess, you got your MB from shoppingplanet?

I have to use 1.85 - 1.9V for 900MHz, the temp is around 41C idle, 45C fully loaded. According to Intel, the max recommended temp for Cele600 is 47C (or 49C?), while the max working temp is 90C.

Timekeeper,
Also, are you setting the slocket to default voltage and then changing the voltage in the BIOS. If you are, you may want to try setting voltage on slocket to 1.85 or so and see if that gives any different results.

I have try both way on Iwill slotket..
set 100FSB/ 1.9V on sloket, then softmenu.
Set Auto, then softmenu....

nothing works, although it does post at 900mhz, but right after loaded into window...all kind of blue screen start appear.

Will try Tekram V.2 tonight.

Celeron 600a retail box (SL4NX), pack date 11/28/00, using an Abit Sloket!!! running flawlessly @ 927 mhz (9 x 100 + Turbo enabled = 927 mhz) at the default 1.7 volts, on an Abit BX6r2, latest bios, stock fan.

Can't beat it!

I have ordered 3 633s retail SL3W9 batch QO4OA320 10/05/2000 cBo I think that all do 950 at 1.9 volts. Seems like alot of volts but it actually feels cooler then my 566@933 and 1.75 volts. I have not had a chance to check actual temps.

FWIW, I am running a retail Celeron 600 @ 900 on an MSI-6309 with a GlobalWin FHP 308 cooler. It is rock solid at 1.65 volts. It won't even post at 110 on the fsb (no options for in between). I am still very happy with mine, as it seems faster than my PIII 600E @744 on an earlier version of the same motherboard.

Hello all,

Hmm a lot of succes stories. Well maybe you guys can help me then.
I just bought a 600 cel indeed one for 1.7v but I cant get it to boot at all.
My mobo is an early revision asus p2b (1.02) and I have a asus converter s133.
I put the voltage to 1.8 since that appears to be the lowest volt my mobo can supply.
So I realise this is a slight overvoltage but... wanted to overclock anyway. But even at 66 fsb it doesnt do anything, that is no video.

hope anybody can help otherwise I ve "got" to buy a new mobo, (ehhh on second thouhgt maybe you shouldnt help me, than I can buy another nice toy )

greetings Aldert
