Could be NSFW

They are very conversational, I don't mind listening to their videos and podcasts, I'm a nerd and I appreciate listening to nerds talk about nerdy things that is considered "news". I watch a lot of nerd news.

Anyway, I noticed they use bad language a ton.

Is there a difference between regulated language use on broadcasted TV vs generic news websites?

Just curious

I don't hear people on CNN.com or whatever dropping the F' bomb routinely. I generally don't see Anand dropping the F'bomb when reviewing some sweet new hardware. But on IGN it seems like they use it as I would when I talk with my friends.

Just the way they roll I guess.

Maybe they think it makes them Hipster or something, I personally haven't looked at their vids in awhile.

I guess they are talking to their friends just online I guess while doing things.

Is a website of course, not sure I'd classify it a news site.

What are you, a fucking preschool teacher? That's the way people talk.

I don't have a problem with it, but it's not the standard way that news outlets speak.

Even radio channels don't drop the F'bomb...except for maybe howard stern type shows? I don't listen to that show so I don't know for sure.

I just find it unusual is all.

Broadcast TV and radio are regulated under FCC standards that impose fairly strict rules. Cable and satellite TV are not governed by the same standards (because they are "opt-in"), although they tend to engage in a lot of self-censorship anyway.

There are no such rules for websites based in the US, except for poorly-defined "obscenity" rules.

it's not a real news site. They can have whatever style they want.

Usually most websites refrain from vulgar language when not necessary to appeal to the wider audience.
IGN doesn't have to worry about the older demographics, they target jaded nerds and angry kids, they don't have a problem with curse words.
