What's with the BE6-2??

I've been running into a lot of problems on different be6-2's, (even with the lastest bios) All have been version 1 with the Hpt66. Even if i run off of the udma33 ide i still see problems. Is there something about this board that i am missing?? btw all are running win98or se.:0)

So what you're telling me is that the manufacturer is the problem? I like Asus as well, (shuttle is my favorite though),,But i've been hearing great things about Abit

The great thing about Abit is their options and features, mostly for OCing.

But the bad part is their quality, or rather lack of, their QA, assuming they have one, is a joke and they have by far the highest RMA rate of all the major mobo manufacturers.

Basically if their mobo's were ass wiper, they would be one ply! :|

They are very VERY suseptable to problems, and such, but people eat them up because they usually support 200 fsb's we never use.

I believe the BE6-2 r2 has the the hotpoint chipset that runs UDMA100. They have been known to have issue with the older hotpoint chipset, udma66. It apparently can accept the bios from the BX133 and turns into a RAID unit.

Yes, the older revision BE6-2's like mine (Rev .4? not sure) had a buggy UDMA66 controller in that it was rather picky about which UDMA66 hds would work with it. I had a Maxtor 20gig UDMA/66 hd that I thought was running ok, HDTACH reported benchmarks that were consistent with UDMA66 drives, but BSOD screens would pop up now and then and only went away when I switched the drive over to the regular UDMA/33 channels and disabled the UDMA66 ports. HD performance dropped accordingly, at least benchmarkwise, though I really did not notice that much difference.

Abit has gotten a bit better with their i815 and KT133 boards in terms of stability and compatability, IMHO.
