What's with the motorcycles with the extended chrome rear carriages?

I guess that's what you call it (carriage), the swinging arm that holds the rear wheel. Anyway, what's the deal with these bikes that have the rear wheels pushed waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy back past the frame of the bike?? I know that a lengthened wheelbase on a car will smooth out bumps and give a better ride, but this doesn't seem to be the reason for doing so on these bikes. It looks more for show...

So could these be considered Rice Bikes?

urmmmm uhhh
suzuki gsx1300r hyabusa fastest street legal bike those things are friggin huge
as my friend put it "they strapped a seat to an engine" he is 6'3'' and he thinks the bike is still pretty damn big

0-60 2.7
0-100 6.2
top speed 190 (unless ya replace the chip on the bike that limits that and then u can do 220 or more)

I'm not talking stock motorcycles. I'm talking bikes where it OBVIOUSLY looks like they have added a new extended rear subframe to the bike.

Never seen a bike on the street with those. I have seen a few at the drag strip. They look pretty interesting, still haven't figured what it does.

I've never seen/noticed that (Got a distinct model?)

I would assume it's to increase wheel travel..

You see, there is no distinct model. They take these regular street bikes like CBR's or Suzukis or whatever you call them, and they take out the rear subframe (what holds the rear wheel), and install a chrome replacement which is about twice as long and makes the wheel hang all the way out.

Since there is no particular brand/make, it's hard to find pictures for

THAT'S IT!! Only they aren't usually dirt bikes like those...they are usually street bikes. You know, those sleek looking Honda's and Suzukis that pull 0-60 in 3 seconds and do like 190MPH. Those kinds.

Longer swingarms are usually used to keep the front end planted on the pavement, ie harder to wheelie. When you give bikes high hp mods, like turbos, it makes the front ends come up very easily. the longer swingarms help keep the bike driveable.
