Hi.
I recently built a machine with the following specs:
No gpu. I'm planning to use onboard video -- this is not a gaming rig. There have been a few strange behaviors.
A) A few times on reboot, it has "browned out". E.g. it turns on, graphics display for a split second, then fans shut down /spin ultra slow and nothing happens. Once in this state, even on reboots you cannot get out of the "brown out". In order to get it to boot, I must pull out the power cord and plug it back in. This is symptom of an issue with either the power supply or the motherboard, right?
B) I was trying to install fedora. On boot from usb I get the following message:
[ 0.227974] mce: [Hardware Error]: Machine check events logged
[ 0.227979] mce: [Hardware Error]: CPU 0: Machine Check: 0 Bank 6: ee20000000
[ 0.227983] mce: [Hardware Error]: TSC 0 ADDR fef20300 MISC 3880000086
[ 0.227991] mce: [Hardware Error]: PROCESSOR 0:a0655 TIME 1615408240 SOCKET 0 APIC 0 microcode e2
This is not OS specific as similar messages occur with ubuntu usb.
C) There are strange messages about being unable to access usb and wifi.
D) Ubuntu gets into a loop attempting access usb devices.
E) I have run memtest -- thus far no errors. I have also tried to booting off one stick (tried each stick separately). This didn't solve the issue.
Is this symptomatic of an issue with the motherboard? CPU? Is there a secret setting in the MSI bios that makes it work? Is this because my PS is inadequate or that I dont have a plug for cpu pwr 2?
Thanks in advance. Is there a different forum I should post on?
