The Intel 965 board is fine if you don't plan on overclocking. It's about as bare bones as they come.

I dont have a problem with intel boards. They usually are barebones and have very few features. But if you just need a simple nice stable board, they are definitely a viable option. Enthusiasts usually pass over them though.

asus = fast,exciting, features
intel = plain and boring, lacking
abit = fast, exciting,features

abit tend to be the slowest out but when it comes you know its going to be good

intel boards are mainly meant for office/buisness dudes etc.. who don't know the meaning of the word "overclocking"(just the way intel likes it)A common thing for all intel motherboards is the lack of overclocking options.Intel just doesn't want to have any serious overclockers use their boards.And intel boards look boring.(green)

@Aviator-I myself have a lame old intel mobo.A 915GAV made by intel.I bought it cause it was cheaper than the gigabyte and asus models.and then i realized what a mistake i made.(no FSB changing options what so ever,could only change the ram timings/frequency)
The board is good for regular stuff.I have stayed away from intel boards since.(right now have pentium d +gigabyte 945P)
