whats wrong with Mac's?

i see that people basically make haveing a mac computer, a stupid decision, but Y? people only talk about everything but Mac's on this forum(not entirely true but just about), so what i ask you is what's wrong with Mac's?(i am not biased and do not own a mac but still am wondering y)

3 main things in my opinion.

1. You cannot really pick and decide what you want. There iare a few different levels of the Computer and you get whatever is included.

2. The price. $3000 for a Computer with a geforce 5200...No thanks

3. Software. Very few games come out on the mac, and most software is designed for the windows platform. Video editing and that sort used to eb the best for Mac but over the years companys are making programs that work just as well on the PC as Mac.

I'd pick one up in a second, but they are just too expensive. Here at school, everyone in network security and telecomm has either Linux or Mac.

theres nothing "wrong" with them i just dont like them because
1) slow
2) OVERPRICED
3) i hate the OSX interface and all other OS's on it as well
4) no real games for it
5) stupid 1 button mouse
6) you HAVE to get it from apple, you cant build it yourself

I'd get one myself if I had the disposable income. This would occur after I built myself a dual Opteron 250 with 2GB of RAM and 1TB of SCSI storage and a 6800 Ultra Extreme. :heart:

well, obviously, im a gamer, and saying less games, to me, this translates into "sucks ass," same thing made me get a ps2 over an xbox..................and (correct me if i'm wrong) i whent to www.apple.com and they were selling a "G5" for $3000 that had 2.5ghz..........if i had $3000 i would get one of those fx55processors and a 6800ultra + all those other accesories u need, but that not the point------but thats just me and the majority of the people on this forum that dont already have them.

i really like macs, though they will always be second to PC's on my list. they do make my favorite laptops.

hmm... i guess sun computers are also computer-like devices for dimwitted since they have an ugly user interface, don't have games, and are way too expensive.

Actually that is partially true dkoz. Every Mad Mac'er I know is voting for Kerry and gets rather hostile if I say anything positive about Bush.

I don't want to start a holy war here, but what is the deal with you Mac fanatics? I've been sitting here at my freelance gig in front of a Mac (a 8600/300 w/64 Megs of RAM) for about 20 minutes now while it attempts to copy a 17 Meg file from one folder on the hard drive to another folder. 20 minutes. At home, on my Pentium Pro 200 running NT 4, which by all standards should be a lot slower than this Mac, the same operation would take about 2 minutes. If that.

In addition, during this file transfer, Netscape will not work. And everything else has ground to a halt. Even BBEdit Lite is straining to keep up as I type this.

I won't bore you with the laundry list of other problems that I've encountered while working on various Macs, but suffice it to say there have been many, not the least of which is I've never seen a Mac that has run faster than its Wintel counterpart, despite the Macs' faster chip architecture. My 486/66 with 8 megs of ram runs faster than this 300 mhz machine at times. From a productivity standpoint, I don't get how people can claim that the Macintosh is a superior machine.

Mac addicts, flame me if you'd like, but I'd rather hear some intelligent reasons why anyone would choose to use a Mac over other faster, cheaper, more stable systems.
