One of the best things about this board is how people can talk about pc's for hours on end, but they'll get flamed if they try to shovel off any pc philosophy.

The problem is not someone using &quot;fudgepacker&quot; or any &quot;gay&quot; reference as a joke or a slam. The problem is the fact that you don't like it. More often you cannot change someone elses behavior but only influence your own actions and responses. It is not a matter of intelligence, but rather belief and right vs wrong. Sure, you want people to be sensitive to the feelings of the &quot;homosexual&quot; and not use those connotations. That will happen right after we stop telling black, jewish, white trash, mexican, blond, women, and all other &quot;insensitive&quot; jokes.

It is a fact of life and I suggest you find a way of dealing with it. Complaining about it will not make it go away.

I'm completely divided on the homosexual comments thing. On one hand, I know that I am not at all homophobic, and totally look beyond if someone's gay or not, so I know that I can make gay jokes and it means nothing coming from me. However, I know that not everybody's like that, and not everybody thinks the way I do. Lots of people will think I'm serious.

Lots of people use gay as a reference, then justify it by saying that it's become part of the common language. I don't believe in that. It's like retard - just you saying it is degrading, even if you dont' mean anything by it.

Then again, I laugh at (and make) gay jokes. I think people should mind their own business and realize that either people don't really mean what they say, or it's not worth caring about what they say if they do make degrading comments, because their opinion doesn't matter anyways.

There have even been several debates about this before. I stick by my position until someone shows a link otherwise (I tried to do a search, but the phrase gets used way too much and gets too many hits).
