A lot of people have trouble overclocking their FSB with a 3com Network card, so you might want to watch out for that if you plan to overclock. My SMC EZNET 10/100 card does 140 FSB fine, and from what I've heard, Linksys cards are good for overclocking too.

Good except, you can get a 1.4GHz T-Bird for less than a 1.2GHz MP and it will perform better than the MP, and there is really no reason to get PC2400 unless you will be doing serious FSB overclocking, like ocing the fsb to 150MHz, and as a result the memory bus will be running at 150MHz also, and all that the PC2400 does is guarantess that the ram will operate at 150MHz, personally I'd get MSI's K7 Master for the mobo, but I've heard many people recommending the Epox board.

no not really, the MP can beat the 1.4 easily

you can pick up 512mb of crucial pc2100 for $100 shipped. although the 1.4ghz tbird is cheaper than the 1.0/1.2ghz palos, the palo has a few benefits. it runs 10-15C cooler, which means that you will spend less on cooling or have a quieter system. also, if you are a seti@home person, a 1.4ghz tbird averages 4hrs25min per unit, whereas the 1.4ghz palo averages ~3hrs.

i would also grab a 1.0ghz over a 1.2ghz, since they are most likely of the same stepping/core, so both will have the same ceiling when overclocking.
