i used to do them all the time, any and everything...i walked away cold turkey from shooting up coke....never looked back...no rehab, no help...went the opposite direction...became a fitness freak..

I think that the use of any substance is a personal choice, that should be made by an individual. Olny I know whats right for me.

I will conceed, that there are people who should not use drugs (children, people with mental problems such as depression...), as well as reasons they should not be used (to deal with/escape problems, because it's "cool", ect.)

Furthermore, I consider anything in excess to be harmful (eating, drinking, drugs, sleeping, sex, ect...)

I also agree that there are drugs that should not be done, and should be illegal. Ones that it is obvious the harm they do on both an idividual and socital level. I'm reffering here not to the problems that occur when a large section of the population is criminalized arbitrarily by the prohibition of something that does the user little/no harm, and does not put others in danger... No, I'm reffering to drugs that are severly addictive/habit forming, those that are easy to overdose on, or those that's production is potentially dangerouse to people or the environment.

--Nicotene
--Alcohol
--Nitrus Oxide (and other inhalants)
--Cocaine and Crack Cocaine
--Heroin and other derived Opiates
--Methamphetamines (meth, speed, ect..)
--DXM (and other disasociatives)

among others...

Am I saying that cigarettes and alcohol should be illegal??

Well, In a perfect world, the answer would probably be yes, and a case could easily be made for cigarettes right here in this one. I am a realist, and anyone can see from the past that alcohol prhoibition doesn't work. I am stating the fact, however, that all of the afformentioned drugs do much more damage to people and our social structures than do the likes of Marijuana, Magic Mushrooms, esctasy (pure MDMA), and caffine.

I'm sure that there are those that feel the list of drugs I mentioned may be too inclusice, and those who think it is too exclusive. These are just my personal thoughts, If you want to flame me for them go right ahead, I won't respond. If you would like to speak reasonably on the topic, I'm more than willing to discuss.

My (semi ex)girlfriend just told me that she's been smoking out everyday for the past week or so with her roommates. I don't smoke myself, but have friends that do.

I'm starting to think that i have a problem with her activities, but don't know if its any of my business at the moment. She's a smart girl, and still in college.

i was on both sides of the fence, so i can see where people are coming from.

though, now, ill say that the ardent anti-drug people are naive.

in my childhood, i never mixed with the crowd that dabbled in drugs... plus, the anti-drug brainwashing thats out there is pretty overwhelming.
for a while, in college, i turned down offers because i was under my own delusion that being completely drug-free was something noble or to be proud of... it was a personal pedestal to stand upon and a mental hurdle. the question then was "why should i do drugs?"....and then i wisened up.

there can be people who use recreational drugs responsibly... people who are all-around intelligent and well-respected.

if you simply choose not to do drugs, thats fine. but if you uphold some bigoted idea drugs are stupid and users are dumb junkies.. ill maintain that you are narrow-minded. personally, i'd never touch heroin, and i hate stoners as much as the next person, but to make sweeping generalization that all drug users are useless would be incredibly naive

eh, I'd probably smoke pot if I didn't have to worry about losing a job and having to take a piss test.

I mean, I havent had any job where I was piss tested, but you never know when you might need to find a job.

I believe if you do illegal drugs or use recreational legal drugs you are not truly free. How can you be free if you are waiting for your next fix or living in the fog of intoxification. I say it is better to live free than to live a slave to your nasty habits.

I use to drink, but after Quitting I saved enough to buy lots of computers. This is what it means to be free.
