It's not so much "oh shit I'm not a kid anymore" but it's more "Oh shit I'm an old man".

1. I was at a College baseball game and thought all the girls looked like they were 14, but they're college coeds!

2. I donated to PBS.

Mine was during my job search after graduate school. The limbo between grad school and a job can be daunting.

I was carded every time I tried to buy liquor, well into my 30s.

When they stopped asking it was a huge shock, made me feel ancient. Not my proudest moment, I ran out and spent a small fortune on anti-aging creams, started moisturizing like crazy. Now I never step outside without sunscreen. I still look younger than my peers, but damn, it was a blow to my ego.

We stayed at the Aria in Las Vegas over Labor Day weekend last year with a room that was pretty much eye-level to the Marquee at Cosmopolitan. My wife and I were out until about 2 am that night, but were kept up until about 5 am from the booming club music. The next morning I asked to be moved to the other side of the hotel and to Aria's credit, they complied and moved me not only to the other side of the hotel but to a high floor level and comp'd our room. Made me feel old, but I wanted to get some sleep.

Heh. I've got a beard with a decent amount of gray hair in it. I almost never get carded anymore. I've got a 4 year old...and it really started going silver on me...ooooh 4 years ago.

I used to be a fast skater, and now I'm just a fast skater among the older guys. Kids can fricken motor and it's not like they show more effort.

Other things include getting hurt or sick easier. Changing metabolism and allergies... can't eat much MSG anymore because now it causes migraines where it didn't before. I'm 34, I think I started to realize I'm old at about 26.

I'm going back to college right now and am disgusted at prices.
540 dollar down payment when I enroll.
100 dollar admission fee.
180 dollars for the mandatory orientation.
200 dollar books.
25 cent copies and prints.
75 dollars a semester for a skid row parking lot pass.

And thats at a SHITTY school.

If the required book is a new edition then your options are pretty limited.
My school pretty much requires a new book every year. The way things match up I rarely get a semester where the used book is authorized.

Yeah, it was like that for me too when I went to college, in 1985.

And the prices of the books were almost the same then too!

Awww... how cute. You think these books are all different. We had a calc class that used a book that had an annual version. The year I went, the only difference (beside the cover) from the previous year was the problems at the back of the chapter were completely reversed. All of the questions and values were exactly the same, just the order was different.

Did just fine with a used book. If it's a matter of money there's usually a way around it.
