1967 - Ford Shelby Mustang GT500

I love the lines of that car and the line it walks between sexy and many.

I used to have a huge erection for Porsche's. My friend drives a 2007 911 Turbo and, while I love the car, I dunno, I sorta got over my Porsche fixation driving that thing around.

It fascinates me how much people love (and dream about) cars. I can neither afford insurance nor gas for many of the cars that have been listed above, so those aren't possible in my mind.

Just give me something that will get the job done with relative ease, comfort, efficiency, and reliability, and I'm happy.

Which is why I'm dreaming of them rather than buying them. I can't afford a Ligenfelter, I can't afford an R8, but if you could drive anything, why not think about it??

Because the cost of ownership (maintenance, insurance, gas) would kill me on any of these dream cars.

I guess I wouldn't mind having a Jeep Wrangler... seems like it would be fun, but my commute is far too long to ever make it practical.

Dream Affordable : E46 M3, I should be able to have liveable insurance in 2-3yrs : About £17k now, 2-3yrs time I should be able t o get one for £14-17k for a sub 40k mile one with less then £3.3k insurance! : maintenance £700 for the inspections
Dream : F430 £95k currently : maintenance : f0ck that, if you can afford 80k you can pay the maintenance

996 Turbo £35-45k currently, in 5-6yrs it should drop a lot more with the new gen Turbo's coming out. Should be a somewhat affordable car in 5-6yr time frame. : maintenance £2k a year!

Either that, or a '78/'79 Turbo 3.3.

Like this one?

I've been looking around at 911s lately... I'd love to get a Turbo but I just can't justify the price premium just yet. I figure a ~2002 non-turbo would be more than enough for the street anyway.

It's nit-picky, but nope. That's a 1996 model, a 993 Turbo. All Wheel Drive and partial water cooling. The 964 Turbo 3.6 (only made in 1994 and 1995) was RWD only and still air-cooled.

ZV

You know what... they updated the info on their website but didn't change it on their Autotrader ad. I knew I saw the "last of the air cooled 911's" somewhere the other day. Guess once they figured out it was a 96 and not a 95 they fixed it. I knew I wasn't crazy.

And to add some more to the car love... even though I'd never buy a Cayman... you can't deny that this is a good detailing job.

I think it would be fun to have a CTS-V or get the ZR-1 corvette that will be out. Being somewhat realistic, I still really love the 87 monte-carlos. I would take my fathers for my play car, a black and fawn aero-coupe w/gold pin stripes. I love how they drive and handle new, the 2 i have been in are nearly new, one had 5000 miles, the aero-coupe 20k. I would also love to own a GNX.

No, a Civic isn't comfortable (I'm 6'5").

Give me a 4x4 truck that gets either 30 mpg with 300 lb-ft of torque (or runs off hydrogen or some other cheap alternative fuel) and I would be happy.

My dream car changes every day. I would have a hard time picking just one.

My current boss has a Ferrari 360. The thing is absolutely fantastic. So, I might go with a F430.

However, I saw a Lamborghini Murcielago on the 4th of July. The guy pulled into my condo complex and stopped to pick up his date. He left the door open and the engine running with me standing right there. Makes you think about how easy it was all those times playing GTA.

The Lamborghini looked incredible at night under the lights with smoke from fireworks all around it. I wish I had a camera. It didn't sound that great at idle, but once he revved it up, it was just amazing.

Then I think about the cars I have in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. My favorites are the F430, Ford GT, and the F40. The F40 makes me wish it had one or two more gears in the transmission. It keeps up with the 700 point cars even though it maxes at 679. And the Ford GT seems like a bargain among supercars. I win more races in the GT than I do in the F430. It's just easier to use all of that brute force power than it is to use the slightly better handling of the F430. I love that game. Can't wait for the full Gran Turismo 5 to become available.

The Maybach Excelero just made the list, right up there with the 1972 New Yorker.
